Job Description

Lead Data ScientistLondon£80,000 - £95,000This is an exciting new opportunity for a Senior / Principal Data Scientist to take their next step up working for a successful, data-driven finance company!THE COMPANYThis research-driven data function sits within a hugely successful financial services company and due to internal promotions they are now looking for a Principal Data Scientist to join the team working closely with the Head of Data Science. They need someone from a research (PhD) background who is happy reading academic papers, but also someone who has excellent practical coding and machine learning skills. If you are looking for a role where you can mentor junior team members and lead projects from a technical perspective, this could be a great next step for you!THE ROLEAs the Principal Data Scientist for the business you will:

  • You will use various machine learning techniques (ranging from NLP, Bayesian statistics, logistic regression, XGBoost etc) to help the company make better decisions from their data
  • You will write production-ready code to help data engineers productionise the models
  • You will read necessary research papers to help come up with new projects to work on
  • You will help mentor junior members of the Data Science team
  • You will present your insights back to non-technical stakeholders
    • SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • PhD in a numerical field is essential
  • Commercial experience as a Data Scientist is essential - any industry background
  • Experience building machine learning models and a strong theoretical understanding of machine learning and modelling
  • Experience writing production-ready code is essential
  • Tech: Python, SQL
