Job Description

Knowledge Management Systems Manager A leading law firm with over 1000 people worldwide with headquarters in London, and 8 offices across Asia, Europe and the Middle East, are continuing with their rapid growth, and are now looking for a Knowledge Management Systems Manager.Their innovation team is a new team and has a global remit, with a primary focus on improving and enhancing the revenue generating activities undertaken by their lawyers. They deliver innovation projects which can be process, technology or operating modelrelated.

  • Take responsibility for our enterprise search system (currently Imanage RAVN Insight) including monitoring the crawlers, configuring upgrades to the system, performing search analysis, generating reports and implementing a continuous improvement model (includingmanaging relevancy of document, matter and expertise results).
  • Support practice group lawyers and business services staff in the use of the enterprise search system and other KM systems, including delivering training on existing and new KM systems and processes.
  • Develop, implement and support processes for the efficient gathering and updating of knowledge in the firms knowledge platform.
  • Play a key role in projects to enhance the functionality of the firms knowledge systems.
  • Support the legal information services (LIS) team in the use and development of its legal research tools (e.g Research Monitor), our library management system (KnowAll from Bailey Solutions) and the enquiries service desk platform (ServiceNow) and liaisewith external suppliers of electronic research services to troubleshoot technical problems and drive implementation of solutions.
  • Provide project management oversight for various KM systems projects, ensuring that they are planned and conducted effectively, efficiently, on schedule and on budget and coordinating as needed with internal and external teams.
  • Assess requirements for KM systems projects
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth testing, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems and other post-implementation support.
  • Assist with configuring and modifying other tools and resources, including updating SharePoint intranet pages, maintaining databases, coordinating initiatives and communications with other business services teams.
  • Keep abreast of emerging KM technologies in the market.
  • Support ad hoc KM projects and provide BAU support to KM services as required.
  • Ability to analyse issues effectively and translate issues and questions into application solutions.
  • An interest in knowledge management, innovation and a passion for driving change.
  • Comfortable working within either an agile or waterfall software development environment.
  • Personality to make an impact in the team, influence senior stakeholders and to shape and influence KM systems projects.
  • Ability to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team.
Experience Required:
  • University degree in the field of law, business administration, computer science, accounting or management information systems.
  • Significant experience in requirements gathering, systems configuration and project/stakeholder management is essential, with a preference for candidates who have performed these tasks as part of a professional services sector knowledge/information managementteam (ideally in a law firm).
  • Experience of configuring and supporting enterprise search tools and document management systems (ideally Insight Search and iManage).
  • Good understanding of databases and classification principles.
  • Experience of creating and managing closing sets/e-bibles is desirable.
  • Recent experience of achieving behaviour change through project delivery is desirable.
  • Strong MS Office suite skills (i.e., Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Outlook and MS Project) and a good working knowledge of other software applications such as Aderant Expert, Microsoft Active Directory, iPhelion, InterAction and SharePoint an advantage.
