Job Description

Fantastic opportunity for a junior lawyer to join a global financial services organisation which is headquartered in London.My client, a global financial services organisation, is looking for a junior lawyer to join its legal team in London. This is a permanent position which reports into the organisations Head of Legal, Clearing Services.The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • providing legal support for the repo and equities clearing, which require the application of both legal advisory and commercial drafting skills in a commercial context; and
  • managing project and certain business as usual processes such as liaising with counsel to procure new or update existing jurisdictional legal opinions and draft amendments to the organisations Rulebook.
In addition, the role holder will provide general legal support to the organisation as a whole; including clearing businesses, risk area, treasury function and on-boarding teams, which involves:
  • reviewing general contracts , ISDA and GMRA documentation and opinions in respect of new members; and
  • general regulatory advice to the business on topics such as EMIR, MiFID II/MiFIR, CRD IV, settlement finality and recovery and resolution.
The organisation is not expecting the successful candidate to have previously worked in a clearing house. Someone who is coming from a top law firm or someone in-house in FMI, exchange, bank or a buy side firm would be ideal.Any trading, securities or repos experience would be helpful but is not essential.
