Job Description

Reporting into the Finance Director, this role is primarily responsible for overseeing the finance function of the specialty Commodity business. It involves working with trade, shipping and global teams. The work is expected to take less than 5 days perweek, so the remaining time will be spent assisting the Finance Director with general projects.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the daily activities for the trade book, including, oversight of accounts payable, cash accounting, credit control & other trade-related activities.
  • Finalise build-out of company processes such as FX, Accounts Payable, and funding arrangements, leveraging resources & systems within the group to assign the core daily tasks.
  • Month-end accounting work such as accrual calculations, intercompany process, valuations review, forward book preparation, rationalisation of results, and completion of group accounting process for the Belgian company in the group reporting system.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and commentary for the trade book.
  • Look after the entity level requirements of the Belgian company, including statutory accounts, VAT returns, corporation tax, and any other local compliance activities that may arise. This will be done with support from group legal and group tax teams.
  • Provide support to the Finance Director on company projects (e.g. FX exposure management).
SKILLS & EXPERIENCEThis role suits a focused self-starter with a high attention to detail and analytical thought process, with experience as a Financial Controller within a small business or in a similar multi entity international environment. Working with the Group processes,this individual must have the ability to work well within a team and with a variety of stakeholders from across the business.This role is ideally suited to a qualified accountant (1-2 years industry experience preferred) with experience in mark to market accounting and used to working in a multi-currency environment. Commodities experience would be an advantage but is not essential.Excellent system knowledge including Excel is essential as there will be a high level of data manipulation to produce reports. Knowledge of Navision, Cognos and SAP would also be an advantage.
