The Cognition Company is looking to appoint a Junior Design Associate.In this role, you will work with a range of the Cognition Companys clients, with the aim of using insights and methods from design to help them improve their online platforms, enhance their products and services, or set their future strategies. You will report to the Digital Design Associate, but will work flexibly with everyone at The Cognition Company. You will also have the opportunity to work on internal projects, for example on developing the online version of our Behaviour Change Playbook.The successful candidate(s) will have a background in design, with a keen interest in exploring how design can help change peoples behaviour. You may have previously worked in user interface design, user experience design, product design graphic design or service design.Some examples of tasks you might be asked to work on include: Conduct research to explore how and in what context people are currently using a product or service to identify opportunities for improvements. Visually summarise findings and present insights from primary and secondary research to define a series of problem statements or briefs. Sketch design ideas to visually communicate possible solutions within an app or platform based on the behavioural insights identified. Wireframe new or improved, more behaviourally informed, features within an app or platform to present the information, outline the structure and show the user journey. Design high-fidelity mock-ups or prototypes of chosen features to show how they will look within an app or platform when they are finished and go live to the public. Work directly with a client company looking to embed behavioural design principles within its app or online platform (without necessarily having an explicit design focus). Contribute to building out our internal projects and methodologies.Skills and ExperienceAll candidates must be able to demonstrate the following: An undergraduate or Masters-level qualification in a relevant design field (for example user experience design, interaction design, graphic design, product design or service design) or equivalent UX qualification A desire to blend their design skills with insights from other disciplines (in particular behavioural science and data analytics) Comfortable developing wireframes and sketches using either digital prototyping tools such as Figma, InVision, Adobe Xd or other visual design tools such as Illustrator CC, InDesign CC and Photoshop CC. The ability to work both independently and as an excellent team player, and take the initiative on projects. The flexibility required to work with different teams on each project The communication skills to share design methods and ideas with team members from different disciplines. Ability to independently deliver high quality work within project deadlines, feeding into the wider work being undertaken as part of a teamThe following are desirable but not essential: Experience or interest in user research; Experience working alongside product teams, working within brand guidelines and design system.
