Job Description

The delivery of high-end legal services is becoming increasingly complex and sophisticated. This is being driven by new waysof structuring teams, the use of new disciplines such as legal project management, and the use of new and innovative technology. Within Norton Rose Fulbright, these changes have been introduced as part of the NRF Transform program.The RoleWe are seeking a Junior Consultant to support the further development and growth of our Legal Operations Consulting practice. The role will be based in London but will work closely with other offices in the EMEA region and globally. Flexible working arrangementswill be considered. This is an important role, working closely with mid-level and senior members of the team, and supporting the Head of Legal Operations Consulting.You will be expected to play a part in driving the continued growth of this practice and its continuous improvement, which will become a strong pillar at NRF. The role of the Consultant is to support the development of the practices strategy and operatingmodel, developing and implementing models, tools and systems that help GCs to meet the needs of their business, and to align with their organisations strategic objectives.The role is client facing and offers exposure to a diverse range of client mandates and an opportunity to contribute to the full project lifecycle from pitching, to scoping, design and delivery; it resembles a conventional junior management consultant role,previously not available in law firms.Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting with the design and implementation of legal operating strategies and operating models for clients, aligned with their business priorities.
  • Supporting on the completion of prioritisation exercises to develop legal operations roadmaps.
  • Inputting into resourcing and skills development strategies including assessments of insourcing and outsourcing to achieve cost efficiencies.
  • Supporting reviews of working practices including the optimisation of the people and processes supported by technology.
  • Support on the development and refinement of our service catalogue, including new and scalable products and service offerings taking into account market trends, our business strategy, client needs and commercial realities.
  • Support the design of resourcing plans our internal projects and client mandates, helping to identify resourcing risks and opportunities, and make recommendations to the project lead where appropriate.
  • Support the scoping and pricing of client proposals, products and services.
  • Support administration and compliance activities in relation to client facing work such as preparation of engagement letters, conducting conflict checks and matter opening.
  • Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of our methodologies and processes and implementing related initiatives.
  • Input on the structure of client projects, tailored to their specific needs and requirements for any given engagement.
  • Provide a supporting role on client mandates, including the provision of SME (subject matter expert) advice, the production of deliverables, and keeping projects running within timeline, budget and scope.
Skills and Experience
  • Understanding of and proactively works towards agreed business objectives.
  • Ability to understand big picture considerations as well as detail.
  • Able to balance multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities.
  • Create a project plan that offers both high-level and granular insight into the projects proposed structure.
  • Assess potential risks that may arise during a project, and to articulate these with clarity.
  • Effectively manage the progress of projects, ensuring that both NRF and clients work within the timeline, budget and scope of a project.
  • Delivery focused and proactive individual, able to act on own initiative.
  • Self-motivated, with ability to take initiative and work with limited supervision.
  • Team player who proactively collaborates across the different legal teams.
  • Experience with stakeholder management.
  • Experienced in technical data analysis, in particular attention to detail and control.
