Job Description

Java Developer (FX Trading) you will work building out a greenfield RFQ platform as part of a series of ambitious strategic growth initiatives for the FX business on the clients cross-asset electronic trading platform. This is part of a significant re-platformingeffort to migrate from a desktop heavy client platform to new HTML5 based front ends using leading edge desktop containers on top of a microservice backend architecture.Client DetailsMy client is a multinational universal bank operating in the Financial Services industry with offices in London.DescriptionMy London based Financial Services client is looking for a Java Developer (FX Trading) to engage in the following:

  • Work closely with Front Office Traders to understand new Trading requirements, provide demos of ongoing deliverables for feedback during the product development lifecycle.
  • Work closely with Sales and Traders to understand new Client requirements, and provide the ability to develop and deliver those solutions.
  • Work closely with BAs and PMs, technical leads, QA testers and Quantitative Developers, to design, develop and deliver solutions.
  • Document new requirements in JIRA and progress them as deliverables within the team.
  • Proactively participate in the wider cross-asset electonic trading platform FX technical community on strategic platform enhancement initiatives, becoming an active participant in technical discussion meetings across multiple projects in the wider teamas part of regular ongoing technical forums.
  • The role will require interaction with both senior Front Office Trading and Sales stakeholders at the Director and Managing Director level across multiple regions.
  • The candidate must be able to effectively understand requirements from their stakeholders and be able to proactively participate in ongoing product enhancement discussions with their stakeholders and provide informed inputs to help shape and evolve thosediscussions.
  • The role will require interaction with senior IT based Director and Managing Director level leadership functions for discussions on the project, the product, ongoing work streams and be able to participate in discussions on strategic evolution of the platformand roadmap formation.
ProfileTo be considered for the Java Developer (FX Trading) role at my Financial Services clients site in London, the candidate must present evidence of the following:
  • Excellent knowledge of Spring & Spring Boot Framework.
  • Excellent Java programming skills.
  • Experience designing and developing systems within an event driven micro-services architecture.
  • Experience of Java unit and integration testing practices, e.g. JUnit and Cucumber/Karate.
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
  • Front office banking experience.
  • Knowledge of HTML5 / JavaScript - particularly React.
  • Experience working with application containers e.g. Docker.
  • Experience of database ORMs e.g. Hibernate.
  • A team player who takes initiative and can influence the development of the system.
