Job Description

We are urgently seeking an experienced and skilled IT Project Manager to be responsible for a programme that reduces the total operating costs of Hosting applications, implements a Hybrid Hosting model which determines the right hostingenvironment (on premise / public cloud) and ensures data security and data protection compliance for our large transport client based in London SE10.The IT Project Manager will be responsible for planning and managing projects that procure new hardware via a Commercial route; replace all of the elements of a Storage Estate; migrate all data hosted on these technologies to a supportedplatform; decommission the legacy storage hardware, manage overall project budget and track actuals vs forecasts.They will agree major project requirements with the Project Sponsor / Contract Manager; identify and manage any interfaces and dependencies between the assigned project and other ongoing network activities/projects and prepare and manage a project implementationplan, including responsibility matrix, detailed programmes and cost and resource plans.Within agreed authority levels, they will negotiate, procure and authorise all project contracts and variations and approve and authorise all payment to meet value for money criteria; provide effective performance and development management responsibilitiesfor any direct reports, with regards to appraisals and performance management.Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • Proven experience in full life cycle IT Hardware Project Management
  • Professional qualification in Project Management e.g APMP or Prince2
  • Good knowledge and understanding of project and programme management methodologies and their practical application in a transport setting.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of project control tools and techniques.
  • Good understanding of project and programme management methodologies and processes.
  • Good understanding of Risk/Opportunity and Issue Management, Health & Safety Management and Budgeting and Cost Management
  • Good knowledge and understanding of project budgeting, procurement processes and contract management
  • Understanding of various project and programme management methodologies and processes.
