Job Description

IT ManagerAre you an experienced IT professional with a passion for managing applications, servers, and systemsRole Overview:As the IT Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and support of the network, systems, and servers. Reporting directly to the Head of IT, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the core IT infrastructure is optimised for performanceand resilience. This hands-on role includes line management of an infrastructure engineer and an IT technician, contributing to the improvement of key systems.Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, support, and develop core applications, servers, and systems.
  • Implement procedures for reliable backup and restoration, ensuring effective anti-virus protection.
  • Develop and manage network monitoring and security procedures.
  • Coordinate and implement upgrades in accordance with industry standards.
  • Administer Windows Servers using PowerShell and VBScript for user accounts and access privileges.
  • Manage operational teams, including 1st/2nd line helpdesk, audio-visual, and network services.
  • Configure and support network account management interfaces with Cloud-based services.
  • Proactively monitor resources to predict and prevent shortages in core applications, servers, and systems.
  • Support system maintenance, security checks, and oversee backup procedures.
  • Ensure user equipment is up to date and provide mass deployment of computer images.
  • Maintain Active Directory and adhere to retention policies.
  • Manage documentation and change control processes for applications, systems, and servers.
  • Actively promote team values and adhere to health and safety policies.
Essential:
  • Extensive experience in managing applications, servers, and systems.
  • Knowledge of Windows server management, Active Directory, DNS, MS Exchange / O365, Veeam, and Veeam Backup.
  • Experience in managing firewalls and desktop anti-virus software.
  • Proficiency in a high-level programming language such as PowerShell.
  • Practical experience in managing and maintaining VMware vSphere.
  • Service-oriented with effective communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload under minimal supervision.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent working experience.
Desirable:
  • Experience in the education sector.
  • Previous line management experience.
  • PRINCE2 Foundation or above / similar project management qualification.
  • Experience with recognized service delivery methods such as ITIL4.
