Job Description

Manage and support Man Group’s investment stewardship efforts through effective advocacy, stakeholder management, company engagements, and proxy voting. Oversee a team that manages day-to-day corporate engagement, research, and proxy voting activities. Leadthe evaluation of complex proposals, develop proxy voting recommendations and assess engagement opportunities—both at a firm level and a fund level—in alignment with Man Group’s proxy voting policy.Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in investment stewardship, proxy voting, and company engagement as well as governance best practices
  • Work with senior leaders and key stakeholders to develop Man’s stewardship strategy
  • Own Man’s Stewardship policies and their ongoing development in line with prevailing new practices and ensure compliance with them
  • Lead, motivate and develop a stewardship team to drive individual and collective performance to meet stewardship objectives
  • Lead the team in responding to client and other stakeholder (regulatory, NGO, etc.) inquires including RFPs/RFQs, consultations and updates
  • Lead engagement conversations with stakeholders from funds portfolio companies to communicate Man’s expectations on stewardship issues
  • Align Man’s stewardship objectives with Man’s other commitments such as its Net Zero Asset Manager initiative
  • Oversee stewardship reporting, including the UK Stewardship Code and PRI transparency reporting
  • Utilize third-party research, company disclosures, and portfolio manager insights to evaluate complex proposals against Mans proxy voting guidelines and present relevant recommendations to senior management
  • Play a key role in maintaining strong working relationships with stewardship-related business partners, counterparties and vendors
  • Mentor and provide feedback to other team members by cultivating a strong, ambitious on application of Man’s voting guidelines, engagement preparation materials and general governance topics
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Undergraduate degree; pursuit of advanced degree or certification preferred (such as MBA or CFA)
  • Proven relevant business experience. Direct experience with voting or engagement is required
  • Highly proficient in MS Office and voting vendor systems, python programming preferred
  • Strong business and investment acumen, including a demonstrated interest in investment stewardship topics such as corporate governance, public policy or regulation, and sustainability topics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable communicating with senior stakeholders (internally within Man, our clients, investee companies, stewardship organizatons)
  • Strong research, analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail with a proven ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic, and ambiguous environment
  • Able to prioritize effectively in response to evolving business needs
