Job Description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with a Professional Regulatory Body, in their search for a number of permanent and interim Investigations Lawyers to provide legal advice, direction and support, to a team of Investigators, in relation to regulatory investigations and alleged instances of misconduct.You will provide legal advice in relation to disclosure, evidence sufficiency, interim order risk and likely outcomes of cases to ensure clear case direction and progression (ultimately reducing caseload and increasing progression time across the directorate).You will also guide, coach and develop staff, while providing ad hoc advice during investigations and making decisions on whether cases are ready for case examination.The successful candidates will have experience providing legal advice and case direction in the context of investigations, with a background in Public, Regulatory, Criminal, Employment Law or Civil Litigation (ideally within Professional Regulation).You will be a pragmatic and flexible individual who will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure cases are progressed effectively (with the desire to coach, develop and help people).It is an exciting time to join an organisation which has a strong focus around development and progression. The role offers an excellent pension scheme alongside 30 days annual leave (+ bank holidays).   • Provide legal advice, support and direction to ensure the effective assessment, investigation and progression of cases
  • Work collaboratively with the Investigations Team to identify cases requiring support, with a focus on progressing aged cases, high-profile cases and cases requiring an interim order
  • Plan, manage and prioritise your workload to support the departments objectives of reducing overall caseload, and increasing case progression
  • Support, coach and train staff on areas including risk, evidence, pragmatic decision making, drafting, investigation planning and legal developments
  • Assist with setting, monitoring and evaluating case work quality
  • Keep up to date with legal and policy developments relating to the sector, to inform advice provided
  • Act as an advocate for the legal team to internal and external stakeholders, including contributing to projects
  • Contribute to shared learning to ensure continuous improvement and consistency of advice
Personal Specification
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive
  • Experience within Public, Regulatory, Criminal, Employment Law or Civil Litigation (ideally within Professional Regulation)
  • Experience providing legal advice in relation to investigations and case management
  • Ability to identify regulatory concerns, and change in risk
  • Pragmatic and flexible individual with a commitment to collaborative working
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands, in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to deliver advice around evidential challenges
  • Experience working within a politically sensitive environment, and dealing with high-profile, sensitive issues (and vulnerable stakeholders)
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to quality assure work
