Their purpose is to support the organisation to deliver our strategy by engaging our people through relevant, inspiring, and timely communication. We have an exciting strategyto grow our business, and we can only do this through the fantastic people who work here. Working closely with the Global Head of Internal Communications, you will help to deliver internal communications which ensure our people feel well informed, engaged,and inspired to do their best work at a company they love. As our Internal Communications Lead, you will:

  • Support the Global Head of Internal Communications, shaping the internal communications strategy, ensuring its people focussed and responsive to changing business needs.
  • Create a communications and engagement roadmap, that you can confidently say will positively impact an increase in engagement scores.
  • Manage change and project communications, as well as be able to respond effectively across any corporate or crisis planning.
  • Adapt your style and work effectively with C Suites across the organisation, using coaching techniques to support our Global Leadership Team to engage with their teams in a consistent, relevant, and engaging way.
  • Be passionate about communications and in particular ensuring everyone in the business is kept up to date on what’s going on at Dr. Martens.
  • Be accountable for developing and delivering the global internal communication plan, ensuring it meets the need of the internal communication strategy, capturing activities outside the management of the central communications team.
  • Support others to engage in communication and recognise its effectiveness, devising clear simple guidelines, tools, and effective processes for sharing information.
  • Champion our existing communications tools, but also look to build on what could make a difference.
  • Partner with our internal Creative Services team and external agency teams to deliver impactful events which bring our company ambition and strategy to life.
It goes without saying that everyone at Dr. Martens is part of a team. Everyone is expected to take on other duties as needed to respond to the needs of the business. THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART Put simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are:
  • Practical and key working experience across internal communications is required for this role. This includes managing communication practitioners who reported to you, or worked as consultants or suppliers.
  • An expert communicator with the ability to adapt your style to connect with the audience, always being clear and concise.
  • Someone who can ask great questions to get to the heart of things; you’re comfortable communicating in writing, speaking to large groups and on a one-to-one basis.
  • The ability to build strong relationships is a prerequisite, you will inspire confidence amongst a variety of stakeholders (from employee groups to operational management teams to directors) will underpin your value and contribution to the wider business.
  • Effective problem solving; difficult challenges and finding creative solutions is your speciality!
  • Writing copy is second nature to you; you’ve developed communications material across numerous media platforms and can adapt the message and style to hit the right audience.
  • You pay attention to the details and join the dots - this means getting out in the business to understand what is going on and having the foresight to spot when a situation, project, challenge may need your communications expertise.
