Job Description

This role is home based / nationwide.Purpose of the Role:You will be working closely with the Group Head of Internal Audit and Senior Audit and Business Leadership Teams, to ensure that they are aware of, and managing appropriately, the main information technology (IT) risks, inherent in delivering corporate strategy. It will require you to take ownership of a segment of the internal audit function, to take the lead in managing IT audit services across the Group. You will take lead on the delivery of IT audits, working with internal colleagues and co-source suppliers. Part of this role is to assist the audit team in developing use of technology efficiently and effectively; and contribute to the timely and accurate identification of IT audit matters, reporting outcomes to Management and the Board(s) Audit Committees.Key Role Accountabilities -

  • Be the IT audit subject matter expert.
  • Specialist IT audit member of the internal audit management team;
  • Prepare internal audit schedules and comprehensive audit programs, mainly focussed on IT;
  • Manage audits for selected companies and across the Group from planning, through fieldwork to final reporting;
  • Provide accurate reporting contributions for the Audit Committee(s) in line with the governance model requirements;
  • Assessment of compliance with technical, legal and fiscal requirements and other regulatory matters;
  • Provide audit oversight to encourage delivery of objectives and goals for selected operations and change programmes;
  • Identify control development needs and discuss these audit findings with Management, proposing and agreeing appropriate remedial actions;
  • Prepare regular status reports of audits executed and support the Group Head of Internal Audit to drive delivery;
  • Assist the Head of Internal Audit to coordinate with external stakeholders, ensuring efficient/effective implementation of the overall audit plans;
  • Manage the evaluation and testing of business processes and controls with the objective of ascertaining proper identification of risks and strategies of mitigating these risks;
  • Use directly and facilitate audit team use of information technology for audit administration and testing; and
  • Promote the adoption of the best practice in internal control systems.
  • Essential Criteria-
  • Professional qualification from a recognised institution - ACA, ACCA, CIMA, PIIA, CMIIA and / or equivalent IT disciplines;
  • Senior managerial experience;
  • Understanding of insurance;
  • Significant information system / technology internal audit experience, including at managerial level; and
  • Sound understanding of code of ethics and international standards for professional practice of internal audit.
  • Excellent IT skills, including sharing knowledge and experience to others;
  • Good analytical and communication skills;
  • Excellent report drafting skills;
  • Leader in use of information technology to manage and deliver audits;
  • Sound knowledge of risk management and audit principles and an understanding of audit philosophy, methods and techniques;
  • Demonstrable experience of working independently and in a matrix environment;
  • Demonstrable experience working in regulated environments, including the UK and Ireland; and
  • Commercial awareness.
