Job Description

Are you a strong Excel user familiar with Macros, VBA, and financial modelling for complex business decisions Do you want to use your accounting background in a role that breaks the mould of traditional finance roles Would you like to work on large scaledevelopment projectsMy client is a large property provider with sector-leading growth and development strategies. They are currently recruiting for an Interim Financial ModellerResidential Development on a 12-month fixed term contract.Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform financial modelling to support numerous key areas relating to property development, including investment appraisals, long term financial planning, construction and development monitoring
  • Maintain the pre-existing models, living primarily in Excel along with some other systems, adapting them as business needs and requests change
  • Respond to ad hoc queries and internal requests, using the systems to provide critical information and outputs quickly
  • Support the creation of high-quality reporting using information coming from the models, including using Power BI to allow bespoke reports to be created
  • Business Partner with Development, Construction, and internal Finance colleagues to ensure the team adapts to changing business needs.
This is an excellent role for someone with confidence in their Excel skills looking to take them to a new level. This £1bn turnover organisation has built models in Excel and other systems that other organisations would rely on external software for, meaningthat the level of Excel use internally is of an incredible quality; those wishing to be true Excel experts should be particularly attracted to this role.Those with experience of Group Accounting in a property development environment who wish to expand on their modelling knowledge should also see this as an excellent opportunity.The work is hybrid, with one-two days per week expected in the office in London, and there is an excellent benefits package accompanying the role, including the potential to become a permanent employee as the demands on the business rise.Candidates will be considered according to the following criteria, in no particular order:
  • Strength of Excel use (ideally Advanced i.e. VBA, Macro use, index matching, sumifs) or the desire to get to this level of Excel use combined with the experience/skills below
  • Experience of capital budget processing, ideally within a property development field
  • Understanding of Group Accounts, intercompany transfers, and joint ventures.
