Job Description

Infrastructure Specialist (Networks)£41,736 - £45,377 per annumLondonThe Royal College of Art is an internationally renowned postgraduate art and design institution. The generations of world-leading designers and artists who have studied or taught at the RCA is a roster of international repute.IT, Library and Technical Services The ICT Team is one of the service divisions of IT, Library and Technical Services (ILTS), a cross-college department, which includes the Library, Archives and Collections, Technical Services and Digital Development.We are looking for an outstanding Infrastructure Specialist (Networks) to provide operational support and maintenance on a wide range of ICT Infrastructure Services including but not limited to Networking, Compute, Storage, Virtualisation, Cloud Platforms, Domain Services and the end-user services they support.The postholder will take the lead on developing our physical and virtual networks Including VoIP and PSTN services. They will act as a subject matter expert for colleagues. They will ensure that ensure that the needs of new and future ICT and digital services are met, campus developments are supported and that the network Is resilient and secure. The ideal candidate must have:

  • Extensive experience on networking Including switching and routing, firewalls, Internet and Inter-site links, virtual networks, VoIP and PSTN services.
  • Varied experience within ICT Infrastructure Including Compute, Storage, Virtualisation, Cloud Platforms, Servers and Domain Services.
  • Experience of owning medium/large networking projects such as a network upgrade or new service Implementation.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with suppliers, customers and colleagues to ensure cocreation of value for all parties.
  • An operational knowledge of ICT Security including current threats and ability to apply knowledge to keep services secure.
  • Demonstrable commitment to keeping relevant knowledge up to date and to continuing professional development.
