Job Description

The JobWe are looking for a Windows Systems Support Engineer in the Capital Markets Infrastructure Service area You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security.Responsibilities

  • Manage, deliver and monitor a number of key improvements to the currently installed systems and infrastructure;
  • Drive enhancements to the environment through to implementation;
  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools;
  • Provide an advanced level of support to the existing environment when required;
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability;
  • Monitor IT Infrastructure performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with 2nd and 3rd level engineers to provide resolutions.
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies;
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks;
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems;
  • Provide 3rd line support
  • Provide regular updates to users on the status of the reported issues.
  • Work with Issues Tracking System to ensure services are provided according to relevant SLA(s);
  • Escalate risks and issues and provide frequent status reports for management;
  • Write and maintain appropriate documentation for manual and automated processes;
  • Understand existing complex environment and be able to easily identify problem areas and undertake successful implementations to resolve and/or mitigate;
  • Assist in the delivery of the monthly patching cycle;
  • Assist with out of hours / weekend changes
  • Work in a 24/7 Roster
  • Verify patch availability and instructions as documented in internal wiki
  • Communicate with relevant as required parties before/after patching
  • Create change requests and following up on approvals. Close the same post successful patching.
    • The Person
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or a related subject) or have 5 years relevant experience in similar role and environment;
  • Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows based environments;
  • Provide expertise on Microsoft technologies, primarily Windows 2012/2016 OS SCCM, SCOM and ideally SCORCH;
  • PowerShell scripting - advanced level;
  • Experience with enterprise level Active Directory (multiple forests, trusts).
  • Experience with Reporting using SQL and SCCM.
  • Networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP);
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar roleBe self-driven and capable to working to tight deadlines
  • Knowledge in MS Active Directory Infrastructure
