Job Description

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer reports into the Infrastructure & Cloud Services Manager post holder.The role is responsible for providing senior level expertise and escalation for operational support of the I.T Infrastructure. Additionally the post holder will be expected to lead technical elements of project and programme activity as required and deputise for the I.T Infrastructure & Cloud Services Manager when absent.The post holder supports the management team to ensure that the Data Centre, enterprise systems and cloud technology are designed, planned, implemented, managed and supported in line with current and future business needs.The post holder will be required to provide technical expertise to diagnose faults, escalate to third parties and administer any local or cloud based technology where necessary as required under the direction of the management team.This role will be heavily focused on supporting the coordination of the implementation of the infrastructure with the Technical Systems Integrator (TSI), Master Systems Integrator (MSI) and the construction programme.Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of all aspects of Data Centre Hosted Services and Enterprise Infrastructure systems.
  • Support the delivery via the TSI of Hypervisors & Server Virtualisation, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI),Storage Area Network (SAN), Back-up & Archiving and Microsoft platforms (SQL, AD, Exchange Online, Sharepoint) infrastructure and technology environments.
  • Supports the Design & Implementation of a co-located resilient hosted Data Centre, Server, Computing and Virtualisation platforms, back-up and archiving, cloud services, Storage Area Network (SAN) & VendorNeutral Archive (VNA), Database systems (Cache, MS SQL, My SQL etc.), and Directory Services.
  • Supports the provision of technology service specifications to provide Clinical and Business application environments in a timely manner as required by the Master Systems Integrator (MSI), PMO and ITD leadership.
  • Maintains solid technical competence for Data Centre & Enterprise Services systems while grasping the integration and interaction of all supported systems. Consistently managing technology in light of how caregiver and patient care goals are served.
  • Works in partnership with Data Centre & Facilities, Server & Storage, Database, Security, Network and outsourced service teams in Cleveland to build an integrated model of infrastructure support.
  • Supports the revision of policies and procedures are revised and updated as changes occur with the Data Centre & Enterprise information systems that affect patient care delivery with emphasis on the Epic EMR and critical clinical and business systems.
  • Assists in the design, specification and implementation of Data Centre hosting, VMware, Citrix, VDI, SAN, Cisco, AD, Back-up & Archiving, Database infrastructure and cloud services.
  • Leads in the development, design, validation testing, and implementation of new Communications, Enterprise and Infrastructure solutions.
  • Working closely with the Infrastructure & Cloud Services Manager, peers in the I.T Infrastructure Team, Network & Telecommunications Manager, Enterprise Support Services Manager, Enterprise Solutions Architect, Director of Technology and PMO and assists the delivery via the TSI vendor of all Infrastructure support services.
  • Supports the configuration & service asset management activities related to Data Centre & Enterprise Systems.
  • Certifications:
  • VMWare Certified Professional (required)
  • Microsoft Certified Professional in one or more of the following:
  • Active Directory, Azure, Cloud Platform & Infrastructure, O365 (required)
  • App-V, SCCM, Vmware App Volumes or XenApp Certification (required)
  • ITIL v3 foundation (preferred)
  • Competencies (Complexity of Work):
  • Advanced knowledge of both VMware ESXi 6.7 and VMware Horizon 7.12 or newer
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy and Windows Server up to 2019
  • Advanced knowledge of Application, Desktop virtualization and thin clients
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies including O365
  • Knowledge of Data Centre hosting services and Enterprise systems tooling e.g. Solarwinds
  • Knowledge of Imprivata OneSign or other SSO based technology
  • Knowledge of server, storage hardware preferably Cisco and Dell
  • Knowledge of SQL and Oracle Database Technology
  • Knowledge of enterprise printing or managed print solutions
  • Knowledge of Linux and Unix Operating Systems
  • Effective prioritisation and time management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate efficient interaction with peers, caregivers and leadership
