Job Description

Infrastructure Engineer - £54K + Excellent Benefits - 2 years FTC - London/RemoteOverview:An excellent opportunity has arisen with a global brand whos work benefit us all and the natural world. Our client have a flexible approach to home working but will require 2 days in the London office.We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to play an integral role in managing the internal server and storage environments and provide key expertise into projects that will ensure that the Infrastructure has the right tools and processes in placefor the technical challenges ahead.This role will sit alongside our Cloud & Networking teams to continue our path towards a Cloud First Hybrid Infrastructure model whilst maintaining the health of our estate.Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Deal with incidents, problems and service requests and provide technical expertise to users to restore service
  • Communicate with users, colleagues and service partners using appropriate methods (e.g., Service Desk tools, stand-ups, meetings etc.), to inform, log and escalate, and provide advice or train users and less experienced colleagues about the functionalityand correct operation or constraints of the cloud and middleware infrastructures, creating knowledge articles that backs knowledge sharing across D&T and drives self-service
  • Be 3rd line technical support for workspace technologies and infrastructure, e.g. VMware, physical datacentre technologies, Servers etc. accepting escalated incidents and problems from the Service Desk
  • Liaise with suppliers on the development of enhancements to overcome known problems or further fulfil user requirements
  • Participate and assist in the investigation and resolution of issues relating to security breaches by reporting breaches and potential breaches, generating and gathering security logs, and undertaking remediation action as directed and in partnership withcyber security staff
  • Participate in integration projects applying your skills and expertise about the workspace technology and infrastructure to ensure successful integrations of products
  • Document all operations as required (e.g., specifications, designs, topology maps, runbooks, changes, knowledge articles, etc.)
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Practical experience of working with data centre technologies, including VMWare vSphere platforms, Dell and HP
  • Strong capability with Microsoft Windows Servers, Group Policy, Active Directory security & management and monitoring systems e.g. SCCM, Jamf, NexThink, etc.
  • Management capability with Dell Compellent or similar SAN and HCI solutions such as VXRAIL.
  • Know backup technologies and replication solutions e.g. Commvault
  • Practical experience of on-premise to cloud migrations
  • Experience with provisioning digital workspace technologies and environments, both virtual and physical
