Job Description

Full Time, Fixed Term 12 Months (Maternity Cover)This role can be based at either Boston Spa or St Pancras Opportunities for hybrid home/onsite working The British Library is home to a world of discovery for researchers, writers, thinkers, artists, creativesand scientists alike. We have over 170 million items in our collection, from Magna Carta and Shakespeares first folio, to Beatles lyrics and Angela Carters archive. Our philanthropic supporters help us open up this world of ideas and inspiration for everyone.Their support enables us to share our collection as widely as possible by developing learning programmes for young people, supporting growing businesses, inspiring diverse communities, broadening our exhibitions and events and improving our physical spaces.TheLibrary is in the quiet phase of an ambitious multimillion pound fundraising campaign. Working as part of a dedicated and ambitious development team, the Individual Giving Manager will make a significant contribution to team targets, with a particular remitto expand the Librarys individual giving prospect pipeline, building relationships and devising creative strategies to unlock the potential of the Librarys Patrons programme, both nationally and internationally. Youll also line manage the Individual GivingOfficer and work closely together to build the Librarys lower value giving programmes, direct marketing, onsite giving and appeals. Managing your own portfolio, you will also have responsibility for the cultivation and stewardship of donors towards the Libraryslegacy giving programme.You will have significant experience of individual giving, and a proven track record of success in running successful regular giving programmes. You will also have experience of managing your own portfolio of donors, planning successfulstewardship and cultivation programmes (including a varied and busy calendar of events) and skills in managing a donor or customer database (the Library uses Raisers Edge). You will be able to work on your own initiative, pro-actively identifying fundraisingopportunities to meet the teams stretching annual targets. A collaborative, determined, open and honest approach to align with the Librarys values and purposes will also be vital. At present we have well over 170 million items, in most known languages, with three million new items added every year. We have manuscripts, maps, newspapers,magazines, prints and drawings, music scores, and patents. We make our collections and programmes available to all.
