Job Description

Are you an experienced senior HR Officer or HR Manager looking for a new challenge This is a new role due to expansion of our Personnel and Development department and we are looking for an astute and personable individual to join us on our journey.The Goddard Veterinary Group is a family-run practice with clinics throughout Greater London. Arthur Goddard started the business in 1952 and his son, Philip, took over the reins in the late 90’s and remains the practice principal. We are now the largest family-run veterinary practice in the UK and have 44 branches, 3 hospitals, and our own nursing college. Please take a few minutes to look at our numerous 4 and 5-star reviews on Indeed.Our ideal candidate is a graduate with post graduate HR qualifications - CIPD qualified and would need to have the following key competencies;Proven experience as a senior HR Officer or HR ManagerA comprehensive understanding of employment legislationProficient in the utilisation of an HRISDemonstrated experience of leading employee change programmesStrong organisational and time-management abilitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong attention to detailCompetencies aligned with GVG CommitmentsThe role would involve the following areas:Compliance and Employment Legislation

  • Support the HR Director in the development of employee policies, updating them as required to meet legislative and corporate changes
  • Ensure employee files are set up in accordance with employment legislation and company guidelines
  • Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance (would include risk assessments)
  • Provide counselling to line managers on policies and procedures
  • Complete annual HR audit and equal pay review audit
  • Conduct statutory minimum pay review to ensure meeting legislative requirements
  • Performance Management / Employer Relations / Liaison with External Employment Law Advice Provider
  • Assist in performance management processes (including PDP’s & capability discussions)
  • Assist in unplanned/long term absence management
  • Support line managers in the management of disciplinary and grievance issues, including following the correct processes and procedures
  • Maintain probation and appraisal logs and liaise with managers for completed reviews
  • Reward and Reporting
  • Liaise with payroll to ensure transfer of relevant information
  • Produce accurate employee data reports in a timely manner for the Board and other business requirements
  • Support the annual salary review programme
  • You will be working with a small dedicated team and would report directly to our Director of Personnel and Development and would be supported by our HR admin support. The role will require regular travel to our practices around Greater London and sometime spent at our Head Office in Woodford Green. Some remote working maybe considered.The salary is in the region of £60k, depending on experience.
