Housing Options OfficerAkton has a Housing Options Officer role in the Housing Options Officer team at as local councl JOB PURPOSE1. To ensure that people applying to the Council for assistance in resolving a housingproblem, receive advice about the housing options available to them, and support toaccess housing and other services that they need through Housing Options Officer2. To prevent and resolve homelessness with other Housing Options Officer wherever possible by providing advice,information and ongoing support to those in housing need.3. To assess, advise and assist customers under relevant housing and homelessnesslegislation4. To carry out needs, risks and support assessments develop support plans and providehousing related support to residents in accordance with Council policies and procedures.MAIN DUTIES1. To provide comprehensive housing options and support advice and information to allcallers requiring assistance because they are in housing need.2. To carry out comprehensive assessments of the housing and support needs ofpeople who are homeless or at risk of homelessness3. To undertake enquiries into the circumstances of housing applicants, obtaining andchecking documents, contacting family, friends and partner agencies, and gatheringinformation for the purposes of preventing homelessness, verifying applications andfully identifying needs and risks.4. To make recommendations the Senior Housing Options and Support Officer on theprovision of temporary accommodation for applicants, advising on the most suitabletype of accommodation that should be provided.5. To initiate and/or to deliver a programme of support, maintaining contact andengagement with clients, regularly reviewing and updating support plans asappropriate.6. To work co-operatively with colleagues in other relevant services to implement theCommon Assessment Framework for children and young people, organising orparticipating in Team Around the Child and other multi agency meetings, taking theLead Professional role where appropriate
