Job Description

About the team:The CYP-Community Eating Disorders Service is a multidisciplinary team providing a community out-patient service to the five boroughs served by SWLSTG. We are an expanding, highly specialist team, combining expertise in CYP eating disorders with specialist mental health provision for young people. This is an exciting time to join the service as New Models of Care for CAMHS in the South London Partnership provides exciting opportunities to be involved in innovations in care for children and young people across the partnership.About the role:This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, developing service which has a systemic underpinning, offering NICE concordant systemic therapy for eating disorders as its core intervention. You will provide specialist multi-disciplinary assessment and expert clinical interventions to children and adolescents with eating disorders, and their families. There will also be opportunities for the post holder to contribute to ongoing service development potentially focusing on emotion dysregulation and / or less common feeding and eating disorder presentation pathways and / or working with children and families with complex needs or with safeguarding concerns. The growing specialist multi-disciplinary team is made up of psychiatrists, nurses, systemic psychotherapists, clinical psychologists, assistant psychologists, a consultant paediatrician and a dietician. The service also hosts students from nursing, undergraduate psychology courses, trainee clinical psychologists, and medical trainees, fostering a welcoming culture with a focus on learning and development within the service. Team working is held at the core of the service with a range of processes to ensure individual clinicians feel supported in their work, including weekly team meetings and case discussion, fortnightly systemic case consultation, and the opportunity for joint working with more complex cases. This support is all in addition to 1:1 supervision with a Consultant Clinical Psychologist or Principal Systemic Family Therapist. The service works closely with local Tier 4 services to ensure well-supported transitions to and from intensive day programmes or specialist eating disorder units. In addition the service has good links with the local CAMHS teams across the five boroughs of South West London, enabling effective and joined-up working where necessary. The team operate mainly core hours 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and the work is mostly conducted out of the community clinic with occasional exceptions e.g. observations and supported meals at home; visits to paediatric or tier 4 services.
