Role OverviewThe Head of Wintel Operations role is a critical function within the Hosting Operations team and the wider Platform Services team. This role is responsible for managing the Global Wintel Operations team from a day-to-day functional perspective, while providingguidance and coaching to team members through ongoing interactions and the annual appraisal process. The role is both responsible and accountable for the running and the maintenance of the infrastructure that falls within the scope of the role, in a resilient,cost effective and performant manner. The role owns, manages, and acts as an escalation point for all Incidents, problems and changes that fall under the Wintel teams remit. There is an expectation for the Head of Wintel Operations to deliver process andtechnology enhancements through continuous innovation following current technology trends and the IT strategy of TP ICAP. Role Responsibilities

  • Team leader for Wintel Operations team within the global team with the primary function of leading the day-to-day Windows server (and associated infrastructure services) support and continual maintenance. The role consists of a combination of incident,requests, and proactive platform management activities.
  • Manage the global team on a day-to-day basis
  • Ensuring team adhere to existing ITSM processes including incident, request, change, configuration, capacity, and release management.
  • Provide close liaison with project teams to ensure the smooth transition of new applications, systems, and initiatives into the production environment
  • Manage production and maintenance of integration system documentation
  • Ensure delivery of integration objectives and goals and that appropriate incident reports are prepared in a timely manner
  • Review and recommend options to improve the effectiveness of infrastructure through automation Provide escalation support for all Windows, Exchange and messaging, VMware, and Citrix infrastructure in an enterprise Active Directory environment
  • Function as a visible point of contact for the Wintel Infrastructure (O/S and hardware)
  • Providing automated solutions, PowerShell, on Microsoft and VMware technologies
  • Resolve and conduct root cause analysis of system performance / failure issues
  • Establish and maintain best practices, processes, and procedures to underpin the operations of the business
  • Manage configuration, installation, and release management
  • Conduct performance monitoring and testing
  • Produce documentation and change control
  • Prepare and maintain technical, process and operations documentation
Experience / CompetencesEssential
  • Solid experience managing a team looking after Wintel services.
  • Strong automation skills along with the technical experience needed to build high-performance, resilient solutions
  • Technologies include but not limited to, Windows Server, Exchange Server, O365, BES, AWS, Active Directory, MS Lync, VMWare ESX, PowerShell, File and Print Services, DNS, DFS, ADFS and SCCM.
  • Good technical understanding of complex messaging infrastructures with good messaging related troubleshooting skills.
  • Good technical understanding of IT infrastructure products, standards, and configuration.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer focus
  • Ability to build and maintain efficient working relationships
  • Shows initiative and can act independently to resolve problems.
  • Problem ownership and accountability, along with the initiative to identify/resolve potential problems without necessarily being assigned the task.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal at all levels
  • Solid experience of working in a systems infrastructure role
  • Citrix, VMWare, and Microsoft Certifications
  • PowerShell and VB Scripting
  • Ability to develop automation process using scripting languages such as PowerShell and batch.
  • An experienced Windows engineer with extensive experience of the core set of Microsoft Server products including O365 and AWS.
  • A skilled engineer with a strong delivery history.
Desired
  • Financial institution experience in a trading environment
  • Experience in working through technical challenges through acquisitions and mergers
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Experience of ITIL standards or a certificate in ITIL foundation skills (either v3 or v4)
  • Experience of managing a Global IT support team
  • Experience of coordinating the migration of Wintel services as part of datacentre migrations
