Job Description

About us:Student Castle Property Management Services Ltd. Is all about helping to create the ultimate university experience for the students.The role:You will lead a team of 9 in-house staff and third-party service provider (25 staff based in India) and manage the full spectrum of accounting and finance functions (both financial and management reporting, budgeting, variance analysis, taxation, accountsreceivables and payables of a group of companiesKey Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, direction and management of the finance team to carry out all accounting and finance functions.
  • Full management of monthly closing and monthly reporting to HQ on a timely basis based on timeline set by HQ (including but not limited to month/year-to-date performance variance analysis against last year and against budget on property-by-property basis,by brands and property management company; monthly rolling re-forecast; monthly cash flow projection; aging report by property; notes to accounts for disclosures in Cuscaden Peak’s group accounts, budgeting; financial analysis and financial planning)
  • To attend to enquiries from HQ and management, and to prepare and provide any additional deliverables/reports to HQ and management when requested on timely basis.
  • To work closely with PBSA finance team based in HQ with dotted line reporting to Financial Controller based in HQ.
  • Ensure all business activities, financial activities and reporting are compliant with financial requirements (e.g., accounting standards) and regulations.
  • Overseeing all taxation planning and compliance including VAT, corporation tax, ensure HMRC compliance.
  • Preparation and review of full year financial statement for all UK entities and Jersey entities for statutory reporting and year end audit
  • To review and approve payments for all entities.
  • Oversee financial controls and accuracy of transactions processing.
  • Assist in the success of an ongoing finance system implementation.
  • Evaluate and streamline financial processes and workflows to enhance and improve the efficiency of the finance operation.
  • Liaise with bankers, lawyers, tax agents, external and internal auditors, outsourced service provider as required.
The Candidate:
  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / Degree in Accountancy).
  • At least 6 - 10 years post qualification experience, ideally within property management and with some audit background.
  • Strong background in leading a finance team, strong manager with leadership skills who can develop and motivate a growing team.
  • Familiarity with Sage 300 and accounting for property management or real estate would be an added advantage.
  • Strong focus on controls and processes and a high attention to details.
