Post: Head of Training Location: HDR UK Offices, Health Data Research UK, Gibbs Building, 215 Euston Road, London, NW1 2BE. All HDR UK roles are primarily based at the London offices, however we are flexibly working across a number of geographical locations.Travel may be required to HDR UK locations and partner organisations.Contract: PermanentReporting to: HDR UK Training Programme DirectorAbout Health Data Research UKHealth Data Research UK (HDR UK) is the national Institute for data science in health. OurUK team of experts develop and apply cutting-edge data science approaches to clinical, biological, genomic and other multi-dimensional health data to address the most pressing health research challenges facing the public. Our mission is to make game-changingimprovements in the health of patients and populations through data science research and innovation.For the first time we are bringing together the UKs population-wide health data assets, enabling specialists across academia, industry and healthcare to unlockknowledge and deliver new insights from molecules to humans. By undertaking research at scale, across a population of up to 67 million people, we have an unrivalled opportunity to use data to the highest ethical standards to drive breakthroughs in medicalresearch. Purpose of the postHDR UKs vision for Talent and Training is to bring together and train our community of 10,000 health data scientists to work with diverse health data safely and securely so they can transformlives. We work with academia, the NHS, industry and members of our UK Health Data Research Alliance to: Define the skills needed to work with health data to address important health challenges; Identify and curate a range of training resources through ourHealth Data Research Innovation Gateway to increase improved use of health data; Deliver training that addresses gaps, helping develop new careers and roles in Health Data Science. Our training programmes will support and equip scientists for a future wherehealth data research studies can be rapidly taken forward and new connections are unconstrained by traditional discipline and organisational boundaries. We will make the UK the go-to place internationally for data science leadership, poised to attract internationalleaders and export UK expertise to other countries.About the TeamYou will be joining a rapidly growing training function designing high volume digital and face to face learning events for health data scientists across the United Kingdom. Working as part ofa small, busy team your role will vary as requirements change and will be crucial to the development of the growing training operation. In this position you will play an important role in influencing the next stage of our journey in the rapid expansion ofour learning provision.Main ResponsibilitiesYour role will be to lead the work of the subject experts in Health Data Science and help them apply their expertise to our design and delivery work and ensure that our curriculum and our training portfolio addressesskills gaps in the highest priority areas in health data science, enabling the biggest impact to transform lives. You will identify and utilise existing and emerging effective practice, evidence and research for course design and delivery.You will also identifythe relevant competency frameworks and map our offering against this, identify gaps and plan training and education to fill these gaps. You will also proactively seek and build relationships with the relevant professional bodies and seek accreditations thatare most compelling and most relevant for our audience.With strong educational credentials, you will build our external presence, influence and credibility. You will also be responsible for the continuous review and assessment of our curriculum offer. Youwill also manage course evaluation which will help ensure our products are high impact and effective.Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Oversee the development of HDR UKs curriculum model in collaboration with a range of internal and external stakeholders andSMEs as well as manage a culture of continuous improvement that delivers agreed quality standards across the curriculum and learner experience Lead and own the approach, governance structure, tools and frameworks for ensuring that curriculum design is fitfor purpose and world class and that meets the needs of health data scientist across industry, NHS and academia Lead the development and oversee delivery of HDR UKs annual summer school as well as all other live face to face, online and blended training programmesTo provide advice and input to wider external stakeholders on national strategies and policies related to health data science curriculum design and training delivery and which will also inform the requirements of the HDR UK remit and delivery plan Developa flexible curriculum offer which can be applied across multiple programmes through amendments/enhancements rather than wholesale redesign Review current research and best practice in education to design effective curriculum resources, ensuring HDR UKs trainingstrategy is in line with academic, industry and NHS sector expectations Horizon scanning to develop curriculum effectively that meets NHS, industry and academic needsQuality Assurance Work with learner communities, PPIE representatives and development partnersto test and review resources as part of QA process Take a lead on ensuring that recommendations, updates and areas for improvement from users and wider stakeholder groups are captured and fed into the continuous improvement cycle Ensure that any delivery modulesthat are less effective, based on feedback from any evaluation results, progress assessments or individual feedback are flagged for review to test if content is achieving intended learning objectivesUnderstanding of Health Data Science To ensure that knowledgeis current on developments impacting on the health data science (and broader education and skills) sector and use this understanding to regularly assess any impact on the curriculum Use knowledge of sector to identify where there are partnerships which wewill require to enable strategic development of design and curriculum contentPartnerships and Collaboration To represent HDR UK on a national level with regards to curriculum design Where necessary, engage in national events and conferences Develop strongworking links with external stakeholders, awarding bodies, sector skills agencies, further & higher education institutions, employers and professional/industry bodies Maintain relationships with awarding bodies and take responsibility for ensuring alignment,avo
