Positions at TeachingPro can be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.Job title Head of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)Salary £66,000 - £78,000Service: Education and LearningHours: 37 hoursJob Type: PermanentResponsible for: Statutory assessment and EHCP provision, Educational Psychology Services, SENSS services and parent partnership services (SENDIASS)We are seeking an outstanding leader to take up this essential post in our SEN education service. We are looking for someone who is experienced in leading in the SEND field, who is confident to champion young people and schools, and who has excellent skills in working with a range of partners. The one who is willing to lead the strategic vision for SEND ensuring a comprehensive coordinated approach across all stakeholders.We are looking for an individual who can Provide strategic direction in the planning and delivery of high-quality education to children and young people with SEND.TeachingPro helping to advocate and enable provision for the borough’s most vulnerable groups of children and young people. To lead and manage services for Educational Psychology including assessment services and support for associated aspects of best practice in inclusive teaching and learning and support for SEND provision with partners and stakeholders. Lead and manage the production of EHCPs in a timely and compliant manner to meet the SEND code of practice.Ensure appropriate local provision is in place for children with SEND and secure specialist placements in partnership with commissioning functions within the Council and its partners. Deliver ongoing self-assessment in line with Ofsted Frameworks and lead service improvement in line with inspection outcomes. Ensure timely returns for information as required e.g. SEND2We are looking to recruit an experienced professional who will build and maintain effective internal and external relationships and networks with schools, SEND providers, parents and partner organizations and services. Lead on the production and publication of a robust Local Offer meeting statutory requirements and in collaboration with the local Parent forum. Take responsibility for the oversight of all aspects of the High Needs Block Budget ensuring probity and governance, monitor the delivery of above areas and control the budget for this service area.Commission/broker additional specialist support as required from a range of other providers on behalf of the Directorate.Provide professional advice and support to the Lead Member, Director and Deputy Director, contribute as an active participant in the Service Leadership Team, represent the Directorate as required at national, regional and local levels and deputies’ for the Deputy Director - Education and Learning.Lead and coordinate area self- assessment and development for SEND in preparation for and compliant with the SEND inspection and accountability frameworkTo undertake such duties relevant to the post as may be required from time to time.Closing date: End of AugustNB: The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
