* Head of Shared Services - Higher Education - £70,000+.**Cloud Migration - Transformation - Agile - £5m budget*Reporting directly to the CIO within a matrix structure, paying north of £70,000, this is an exciting opportunity for someone to lead a sizeable team that are assisting with delivering a shared services model, and in turn a migration to the cloud, to increase the efficiency of a world-leading universities innovative IT operation.If the idea of working in an agile environment that is product orientated, and user-centric focused, alongside holding a £5 million budget to help deliver on this project for a prestigious university appeals to you, then please get in contact with me directly, or apply through this advert.Email: (see below)Job Title:Head of Shared ServicesResponsible to:CIOLine Management responsibility for:Data Product OwnerIntegration Product OwnerCloud Product OwnerIdentity and Trust Product OwnerKey Working Relationships (internal):All of ICT, customersKey Working Relationships (external):SuppliersContract type:Open ended contractPurpose of the PostTo accelerate ICT activities and enable step changes in ICT capabilities, allowing teams to build their applications faster, better, and cheaper, to the result of increasing service reliability whilst reducing the time and cost of development. This particularly impacts frontline repetitive tasks, eg processing of student applications. Each Shared Services capacity will either build new shared services, eg a secure image for cloud hosted applications, or curate those services built by others for the common good, eg Enrolling Students database call.Key Responsibilities

  • Leads strategic direction for ICT s Shared Services through engagement and collaboration with the Technology Office, as well as business stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Owns and manages the delivery of ICT accelerators to enable step changes in the Colleges ICT capabilities, products and services, including:
  • o Data: Provide big data technologies to support analytics education and research purposes.o Integration: architect and implement modern agile integration capabilities for applications and data.o Cloud: Build, migrate to and operate cloud-based platforms, both infrastructure and applications.o Identity and Trust: Deliver unified zero trust capability to support the secure access to and protection of College applications and data by College and external consumers eg prospective students
  • Responsible for Shared Services Lifecycle Management: Shared Service teams provide end to end life cycle management of all core services, which combined, are underlying, related to and/or enabling all of ICT s capabilities.
  • Manages Shared Services capabilities to their respective needs; some being developed from scratch, others curating and expanding something built by others, through collaboration with the Product teams.
  • Defines roadmaps across Shared Services and to carry responsibility for change deliveries, releases and transition into operation across product categories, in collaboration with the Technology Office and Product Teams.
  • Delivers through teams using best practice agile ways of working (agile, squads), moving away of project-based delivery model, delivering against defined release and benefits plans.
  • Promotes and working by the ethos reuse before buy and buy before build to benefit multiple times from single investments.
  • Manages the establishment of Cloud IAAS and PAAS capabilities to be used for all new hosted services and to migrate servers hosted in the data centre to the Cloud.
  • Capable of leading technology transformation at a large scale to safeguard the College s preparedness for the future.
  • Responsible for the delivery of Shared Services releases, including technical debt.
  • Responsible for proper handling of 2nd and 3rd line support on Shared Services.
  • Manages the allocated budgets (including handling significant sized external contracts) whilst delivering cost savings through increased efficiencies and automation.
  • Promotes the services available through a myriad of communication channels in collaboration with ICT Communications staff.
  • Is an active and critical member of the ICT Senior Management Team. Helps create and drive the strategy to deliver a world class performing ICT function.
  • Is a key part of the management organisation, so will be required to demonstrate a high level of strategic thinking, influencing internal & external stakeholders across the ICT and the wider College, and a drive for change.
  • Responsible for creating a strong performance culture, setting clear objectives and deliverables and holding people accountable for delivery.
