The Investment/ERM businessesare exposed to a diverse set of risks including operational, regulatory, conduct and customer, reputational and strategic risks, and financial. The Head of Risk - Investment supports the UK Chief Risk Officer by managing the UK Divisions Risk Function withinInvestments/CLHF on a day-to-day basis to deliver strategic risk objectives and support the execution of the business strategy. This includes holding the regulatory responsibility for Risk for both businesses, and acting as their CRO. The role involves oversightof the full risk universe relating to Investments/CLHF. This will require working closely across the Risk Team to ensure effective implementation of Risk Management processes across business areas, including where shared services functions operate across thegroup. Role responsibilities include membership of the CLAM and CLHF senior management teams to oversee activity and influence continued risk culture embedding in the businesses, membership of key committees at management level for the running of the businesses,membership of the risk function senior management team and membership/chairing of risk committees. Support the Chief Risk Officer in ensuring that CLUKs Enterprise Risk Management Framework facilitates effective and appropriate risk management across thebusiness, encourages an appropriate risk culture and meets the needs of the full range of stakeholders (including Board, executive and regulators). What youll do: Risk Management Team Member of the risk function management team supporting the CRO in managingthe Risk Function, the engagement with the full range of stakeholders, including regulators, and in providing appropriate and relevant reporting to the Executive and various Boards and Committees. Risk Management Framework Champion the three lines of defencemodel for risk management across the Investments division/CLHF. Ensure the implementation of the Great West Life ERM framework within the Investments division / CLHF businesses is compliant with relevant regulations and meets the wider expectation of regulatorsand follows good practice relative to peer companies. This will include implementation, embedding and maintenance of:Risk strategy, consistent with the business strategy and business objectivesRisk universeRisk appetite frameworkRisk policies Risk oversight and assuranceRisk identification, assessment, measurement, measurement and reportingRisk function charter Business Partnering Lead risk engagement with and oversight of Investments division / CLHF. This covers oversight and challenge ofthe nature of risk exposures, capital requirements and governance and their subsequent impact on CL UK and includes:providing input on business decision-making, including due diligence on potential business M&A transactionsbeing risk representative onInvestments / CLHF senior management teamsbeing a member of key Investments / CLHF committees and responsibility for oversight contributing to committee discussionsresponsibility for oversight of distribution deals by the Investments / CLHF businesses providing oversight of business change relative to Investments / CLHF and representing risk function at senior panels to manage changecollaborating with the Compliance function to provide consistent second line oversight to Investments / CLHF, as appropriateContribute to risk oversight and challenge to initiatives across the wider CL UK structure, as appropriate People Leadership Recruit, motivate and manage direct reports, and ensure similar from them for their teams, in the achievement of the business and individualobjectives, including the provision of operational, regulatory and technical risk guidance. Risk reporting, measurement and monitoring Lead the quality review process for CRO reporting for Investments and CLHF, including Executive and Board committees forthe relevant entities. With a primary focus on the Investment / CLHF businesses:Support the development of appropriate methodologies and processes for ensuring financial stability i.e. ICAAP or equivalent What youll bring to the role:Strong influencingskills, with experience of engaging with Boards and senior management in order to get desired outcomeGood interpersonal/networking skills, with the ability to maintain a variety of relationships with multiple stakeholdersStrong communication skills,demonstrating a clear and articulate standard of written and verbal communication in a complex environment, tailored for all levels of management including Board level.Significant experience in the life insurance industry, including management positions.
