Purpose of the Role The Head of Researcher Training Solutions (maternitycover) is responsible for leading the development and growth of high-quality training services for scientists, institutions and funders, including the prestigious Nature Masterclasses. You will be an experienced team leader, confident in managing diverse teams,and have exceptional publishing instincts - required to support and empower the product managers to grow their portfolios and successfully execute the strategy centred around customer needs. You will have a strong commercial acumen, be comfortable with change,and know how to lead a team to get things done. Reporting to the Director of Researcher Professional Development Solutions, this role incorporates overseeing publishing, learning design, and the operations of our training services, as well as providing strategicinput.Applications are welcomed from people with strong interpersonal skills with a background in HE, training services, or publishing.Key Responsibilities: Act as the key advocate to represent researcher training solutions to internal stakeholders, key partnersand external customers Lead product development and deliver on the strategic plans Monitor the activities of established and emergent competitors Ensure the effective and efficient operational delivery of the training services, and that quality and customersatisfaction standards are maintained in keeping with the identity of our prestigious brand(s) Ensure the training is engaging, highly-used, and meets the needs of researchers and customers Own the relationship with the IT team to develop the platform Be responsiblefor the P&Ls Provide trusted management and leadership to the Researcher Training Solutions team (c.15 FTEs), and support them in their professional development Monitor KPIs and provide input into forecastingExperience, Skills & QualificationsEssential Undergraduatedegree; ideally a postgraduate degree Proven experience in a management role Significant experience in publishing and/or product development, including a strong commercial drive Significant experience in, or demonstrable understanding of, the needs of researchersand institutions as key customers Strong project management experience; running projects, controlling costs and hitting deadlines Excellent management and communication skills Excellent leadership and team-building qualities Strong analytical and problem-solvingskills Good commercial instincts Strong stakeholder management skills Enthusiasm and passion for editorial excellence Ideally, a thorough understanding of the needs of researchers and institutions as key customers Ideally, credibility in regards to researchertraining Ideally, an existing appropriate networkDesirable Experience in, or demonstrable understanding, of education and training techniquesTo apply, please submit a CV and a cover letter outlining your key ambitions in the role, including your salary expectationsand notice period.Closing date for applications is 4th November.
