Job Description

HEAD OF LEGAL AND BUSINESS AFFAIRS10+ YEARS’ PQE, SCRIPTED AND UNSCRIPTEDMEDIA LAW FIRM – CENTRAL LONDONHIGHLY COMPETITIVE PACKAGEWe have a unique opportunity for a dynamic solicitor or barrister with extensive experience of working in both scripted and unscripted TV production to join a highly respected, boutique media law firm as the Head of Legal & Business Affairs.As legal and regulatory experts in the television, VOD and publishing industries, our client advises many of the UK’s leading independent production companies, broadcasters, and other content producers.The role has arisen as a result of the firm’s commitment to growing its core media and entertainment practice. Working closely with the CEO, key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert advice to company clients, especially TV Indies, on business and commercial affairs, chain of title, and rights issues
  • Structuring deals, drafting and negotiating various agreements, and handling day-to-day TV business affairs and production services inquiries
  • Developing and growing a scripted Business Affairs department
  • Contributing to the companys growth and direction
  • Managing and mentoring employees
  • Supporting the CEO in the role of Head of Legal Practice.
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth, practical, understanding of television production across scripted and unscripted content. Candidates currently may be in a senior in-house role, having previously had some experience of private practice earlier in their career.Alternatively, candidates may be at senior associate/junior partner level working in private practice and looking for an opportunity to progress and develop their practice.
