Job Description

Head of Legal - RiskLocation: LondonWe are currently working with a reputable and dynamic law firm committed to delivering exceptional legal services.The Risk & Compliance Department, based in London and other locations, collaborates closely with the General Counsel and specializes in areas like sanctions and data protection.The Head of Legal Risk plays a key role in formulating and implementing the firms risk and compliance strategy, managing the Risk Legal Team, and addressing daily queries related to legal standards, ethics, conduct, and more.The role involves leadership, management, and collaboration with various departments, emphasizing a proactive approach to risk management and compliance trainingResponsibilities:Leadership and Strategic Planning:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the legal department, aligning legal initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement legal strategies that mitigate risk and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Risk Management:
  • Identify, assess, and manage legal risks associated with the firms operations.
  • Design and implement risk mitigation strategies and policies.
  • Stay abreast of legal developments and assess their impact on the firms risk profile.
Compliance Oversight:
  • Oversee compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Develop and implement compliance programs and training initiatives.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments.
Legal Advisory:
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on complex legal matters to the firms leadership.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
  • Stay informed about changes in legislation that may impact the firms legal standing.
Team Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing legal team.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement within the legal department.
Qualifications:
  • Must be a England and Wales qualified lawyer and must have 10+ years PQE.
  • Experience advising at the board level.
  • Experience in a private practice law firm.
