My client is a disruptive financial technology (FinTech) company.They have a fantastic HEAD of INFRASTRUCTURE ( with AWS ) position .Their clients are made up of Leading investment banks, asset managers, hedge funds, commodity houses, and brokerage firms (collectively representing over 20 trillion dollars of AUM). My clients AI-assisted Software Products offer market-leading trade dataanalysis in the following areas: Market Abuse; Operational Risk; Best Execution; Anti Money Laundering and Comms Surveillance.They are headquartered in London, with further offices in New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Hong Kong, although we are expanding rapidly!To support our cutting-edge software stack we leverage (primarily AWS-based) cloud infrastructure coupled with our regular corporate office networks in London, New York, Toronto and HK (with other locations likely to follow).We require the services of an experienced, best-in-class infrastructure specialist to help us achieve our strategic goals within the AD/networking/cloud integration and automation space. This person should be passionate about automation and standardization,able to motivate a team to move to an ever-more automated/standardized infrastructure setup, and be a hands-on problem solver.Responsibilities will include:Overall responsibility for the delivery of strategic infrastructure projects and initiatives across the company.Providing consultancy and expert advice on the architecture of domains and networks, as well as project phases and implementation.Sourcing, evaluating, and managing 3rd party consultants or contractors for specific projects or maintenance work that is too specialized to do in-house.Ensuring that the entire AD estate is maintained in line with operational and security best practices.Increasing automation and operational efficiency in the deployment, maintenance and oversight of our infrastructure, collaborating with our engineering teams to deliver automated, audited systems to perform common tasks and to streamline workflows as muchas possible.Ensuring all logging, auditing, and monitoring of infrastructure, networks, and domains, is aggregated, retained, and managed in accordance with company and regulatory standards.Implementing appropriate alerting and implement processes to ensure alerts are appropriately triaged and handled, escalating to security or engineering where necessary.Managing a small team of infrastructure engineers, working on the above strategic projects in addition to BAU work.RequirementsExcellent written and oral communication skills, with the instinctive ability to summarize essential information to senior management in a clear and concise manner.Strong management skills both for our in-house infrastructure engineers, and 3rd party consultants.A strong desire to standardise and automate wherever possible.Knowledge of AD best practices, both from a security and operational perspective.Strong practical knowledge of other core infrastructure elements, including secure networking design & firewall configuration, and VPNs.Workload automation via PowerShell or otherwise.Experience with cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS.Desirable experience (not essential):Experience with Microsoft O365 and AzureAD.
