Pay: MPS/UPS + TLR2c Start Date: September 2021We are, once again, exceptionallyproud of the magnificent performance that has led to some wonderful resultsboth at GCSE and A Level. Our examinations data from 2019 records the averageGCSE grade was above a Grade 7 and our Progress 8 was well above average at0.95. We also enjoyed suburb A Level results with 67% of our students achievingA*-B grades in 2019. The average was a Grade B and our Level 3 value added wasabove average at 0.12. Our aim is for students to achieve high academic resultswhilst still affording them a platform to extend their personal qualities,talents and interests. Result statistics were not published for the 2020cohort. The Design and Technology teamcurrently consists of a Head of Department; two full time specialist teachersof Design and Technology, three part time Food and Nutrition teachers and twofull time technicians. There is a supportive and collaborative ethos within thedepartment and we are always open to new ideas. We regularly reflect on ourdelivery to ensure our students gain the best experience and aim to enthusecreative problem solving. Weald of Kent students are driven, inquisitive andcommitted to learning. Our results at both GCSE and A Level are excellent andwe frequently outperform other schools in our specialist areas. Food and Nutrition has achievedexceptional results over a number of years and is a popular subject at KeyStage 4. At Key Stage 3 students develop a broad framework of skills andknowledge across a wide range of Design and Technology disciplines. Thisprovides a strong foundation which enables students to make an informed choiceto specialise in one discipline at GCSE. At present, in Key Stage 4, we followthe Eduqas Syllabus and offer full GCSE courses in Food and Nutrition, andDesign and Technology. In addition, we have a thriving A-Level group. Thepurpose-built Technology block was opened in September 1999, and comprises oftwo workshops (one with heat treatment facilities); two clean rooms (one ofwhich houses the laser cutter) each with a suite of 21 computers and additionalworking space; and a recently refurbished (Summer 2015) Food and Nutritionroom. Our Sevenoaks site opened in September 2017 as a purpose built,benefitting from brand new classrooms and facilities.
