Job Description

Newly created opportunity to join this specialised global insurer providing strategic leadership for Financial Climate Risk Exposure.Supporting the CUO in their regulated Senior Management Function responsibility for climate risk you will play a pivotal role in coordinating the climate initiative with exposure management, pricing, underwriting and head of sustainability. Working closelywith their exposure management function you will provide climate risk subject matter expertise to improve the natural catastrophe models and to strengthen risk disaster scenarios for long tail lines.Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the implementation of our Climate risk mitigation strategy and management actions including through liaising with and coordinating the work of relevant teams.
  • Provide subject matter expert input into underwriting risk assessment and mitigation e.g., pricing adequacy and appropriate wordings.
  • Assist with determining how to integrate climate risk into the underwriting process e.g., how to use ESG score for capacity amounts or pricing and developing underwriting risk assessment questions.
  • Work closely with exposure management team to provide climate risk subject matter expertise on atmospheric perils, and liability risk disaster scenario development for future climate risk.
  • Leading climate financial regulatory returns e.g., PRA and future versions or global iterations.
  • Providing SME input on climate related risks, physical, liability, transitional as they relate to underwriting or investments.
  • Develop new deterministic scenarios to meet TCFD (Task Force on Climate Related Disclosures) requirements
  • Liaise closely with underwriting and sustainability functions to ensure synergy.
  • Provide regular reports to relevant committees and boards.
  • Establish and maintain external network of market peers and experts.
  • Regulatory relationship engagement.
Experience & knowledge required -
  • Proven track record working a risk related function within the general insurance sector
  • Well versed in the current developments and regulatory requirements in Climate Change
  • Strong working knowledge of speciality lines of insurance and CAT modelling techniques
  • Well versed in working with senior stakeholders across risk, underwriting, strategy and sustainability
  • Collaborative in approach
  • Excellent communication skills
