Job Description

Would you like to work for a charity steeped in history Are you capable of managing an investment portfolio worth over £100 million Could you oversee a small finance function, operating at both a strategic and hands on level If yes, this is the role foryou!Robertson Bell are delighted to be working with this £5 million income charity whilst they recruit for a new Head of Finance and Resources. Reporting into an inspiring CEO, this role will manage two members of staff and be responsible for a broad array offinance tasks. Duties for the role will include:

  • Provide oversight and manage all of the charity’s financial processes and resources.
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team, the CEO, the Board of Trustees and other relevant committees and provide necessary guidance around the organisation’s finances.
  • Manage the charity’s investments which includes a large property portfolio and all funds.
  • Lead on the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Submit annual and monthly returns and deal with all tax and VAT queries.
  • Lead the annual audit.
  • Measure the treasury function and develop the long-term cash flow.
  • Manage the relationship between the charity and the outsourced IT provider.
  • Act as the lead on all GDPR matters.
  • Suggest improvements to enable accounting development and provide training to relevant staff.
  • Oversee and process the payroll for the organisation.
  • Management of a small team, providing training, leadership and motivation.
This permanent Head of Finance and Resources will act as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and will work collaboratively across the organisation. The role will be based out of the organisations head office in central London however only two visitsa week will be required. This opportunity would best suit someone who has previously held a managerial role, ideally within a small (under £10 million) turnover organisation.This successful candidate will be:
  • A qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA).
  • Experienced leading on the year end process.
  • Experienced leading on the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Confident suggesting process improvements.
  • An experienced people manager.
  • An excellent communicator.
  • Ideally experienced in managing funds and investments.
