HEAD OF DATA SCIENCE UP TO £140,000LONDONThis is an exciting new opportunity to work in a very fast-paced, flexible and dynamic environment. You will lead a team to solve problems across many aspects of consumer lending products. You will drive the team to embed market-leading and innovative techniques.THE COMPANYThis company is a significant financial service offering personal loans to customers who have trouble when applying for credit from their banks. The company is looking to increase its data science capabilities to support growth through enhanced models andexperimentation.THE ROLEYou will be doing the following daily:

• Lead and cultivate a team of Data Scientists dedicated to integrating cutting-edge models and processes into the business, fostering sustainable growth and ensuring exceptional customer outcomes.
• Spearhead the development and implementation of top-tier segmented credit models specifically tailored for unsecured consumer lending products, striving for excellence in both creation and deployment.
• Drive the advancement of the businesss data and analytics approach, actively seeking opportunities for improvement and embracing a test-and-learn mindset to enhance capabilities swiftly.
• Collaborate closely with the broader Analytics team to optimize the overall portfolio value by adapting data sources, modelling strategies, cut-offs, and application processes.
• Engage with external stakeholders, including credit reference agencies, to strengthen relationships and stay abreast of industry best practices.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills, conveying analyses and recommendations to both technical and non-technical senior audiences through written and verbal channels.
• Establish and maintain robust Management Information (MI) systems to monitor the effectiveness of existing models, promptly alerting the management team to any degradation, and proposing remedial actions.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to successfully deliver projects and contribute to the overall change agenda.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Possess a degree or equivalent qualification in a technical numerical field such as statistics, mathematics, physics, operational research, economics, or engineering.
• Demonstrate a minimum of three years of leadership experience in Data Science within the financial services sector.
• Exhibit a genuine passion for fostering, coaching, and developing high-performance teams.
• Showcase hands-on proficiency in data manipulation and modelling languages, with a preference for expertise in SQL, Python, or R.
• Communicate effectively with excellent verbal and written skills, demonstrating an ability to convey complex concepts to non-technical team members.
• Thrive in an exceptionally fast-paced start up environment, showcasing the ability to adapt and excel under pressure.
• Display high levels of self-motivation and the capability to operate independently, contributing proactively to the organisations goals.
