Head of Crop Science - IHS Markit About Us IHS Markit Agribusiness Intelligence is recruiting a Head of Crop Science to lead our team of crop protection and seed market analysts and reporters and develop our commercial proposition in this vibrant space. The successful candidate will bring industry experience to the role and will be working with our analyst team, which provides essential business intelligence on agrochemicals, GM seeds, biologicals and technologies for the global crop protection and seeds industry. The key areas of expertise of our 260+ person team are: Crop Protection and Seed Fertilizers Animal Health Commodities: Crops, Livestock and Energy Food Processing and Distribution Agri Food Policy & Regulation Your Role You will be based in one of our global office locations and will be responsible for the planning and coordination of the groups publishing activities, contributing to the market analysis and playing a lead role in developing the groups longer-term business strategy, including new product development, to meet the evolving requirements of our client base. This is a leadership role for the Crop Science team which has 13 staff located in the Europe, US and India. You will be responsible for contributing informed, unique insight and analysis, delivery of the groups analysis to schedules, the training and development of the team, the effective integration of the group within the broader Agribusiness portfolio and identifying and implementing opportunities, synergies and efficiencies from collaborating with colleagues in Agribusiness and more widely across IHS Markit. Within this varied role you can expect to be supporting both experience and more junior staff in developing their understanding of the market and how their analysis can support our clients, working with customers and internal product teams to ensure we have the most up-to-date understanding of client needs and develop our products to that and working with supporting sales and marketing staff to ensure we commercialize our portfolio. You will be working closely with the Agribusiness senior management team and colleagues in the consulting group to support business planning. As this role will have frequent, direct exposure to our clients, involving international travel, you will be expected to act as an ambassador for the crop science group and wider business; building strong partnerships and networks across the industry. About You Key Qualifications and Skills: Masters or Bachelors Degree At least 10 years of experience in the crop protection/seeds industry, preferably within a commercial or business/market intelligence role Strong leadership and team management skills (including virtually) and the ability to work autonomously Established network within the sector and the ability to expand continue to expand this as an ambassador for IHS Markit Excellent written and spoken English with proven ability to produce insightful written analysis. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an international team-oriented environment and to navigate and excel in a complex, matrix organization Strong data, analytical and problem-solving skills.
