The Role:We are looking to appoint a Head of Communications and TV to lead on planning and delivering the communications strategy, issues management, media relations, media operations, TV planning and production for all our events. In addition, you will lead on planningand delivering the communications strategy and media relations for The London Marathon Charitable Trust, our support of British endurance running, LMEs work in the third sector and on environmental sustainability and the rollout of The Daily Mile into Londonsprimary schools.We are passionate about making London Marathon Events a great place to work thats diverse, fair and inclusive for all. We do everything we can to help everyone be their best.Reporting to: Marketing and Communications DirectorResponsibilities:Planning and managing the delivery of the communications strategy for all our events, including liaison with celebrities and influencersPlanning and managing the delivery of the communications strategy for The London Marathon Charitable Trust, B2B, our support of British endurance running and The Daily MileWorking with our Head of Marketing and Head of Creative to create impactful campaigns for the work of London Marathon Events and The London Marathon Charitable TrustMedia relations (proactive and reactive) for all our events, for London Marathon Events and for The London Marathon Charitable TrustWorking with the Head of Charities to manage our profile in the third sector and with the Head of Sustainability on the strategy to promote our environmental and sustainability initiativesManaging the communications team (two) and external consultantsLeading on the liaison with BBC Sport to plan television coverage of the London Marathon and amplification across all BBC platforms and programmingAppointing production companies to televise other LME events, managing budgets and production plansWorking with BBC Sport and Red Button to broadcast LME events and exploring placement of coverage placement on other channels, including OTT opportunitiesPlanning and managing media operations at our events and organising other media events as requiredIssues management at our eventsWorking closely with our commercial partners and their agencies to deliver bespoke communications plansEssential skills and experience requiredYou will have proven experience in a senior communications, PR or media role in an federation, brand, agency, press office or similar environmentYou will be a creative thinker with a excellent track record in creating and managing PR campaigns that engage and deliverYou have in depth knowledge of - and keen interest in - elite running, pro cycling and mass participation swimmingAn extensive and established network of sports and news media contacts and the ability to build relationships at senior/editor levelExperience in commissioning TV production, planning broadcast narrative and managing media operations at televised major sports eventsAbility to host media events and moderate press conferencesExcellent writing skillsStrategic news sense and outreach/pitching skillsA self-starter who is detail-oriented and highly organisedA hands-on, proactive working style, with the ability to work at both the strategic and detailed operational levelThe ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-changing environmentCreative and action-oriented, bringing a solution-focussed approach to your work.Collaborative and inclusive, able to work effectively with colleagues across the business to enable collective successProven track record of delivering results and impactWhat do we have on offer
