Job Summary The Head of Bid Management role is part of the Business Development team in UK Bidding Services and is responsible for the Bid Management function specifically focussing on bids within our Health pipeline. These include Community Health and Wellbeing, MentalHealth Support and Workforce and Occupational Health. The role is ideal for an experienced senior bid manager or bid lead with a good understanding of pipeline management, bid management processes, stakeholder management and bidding governance. The role requiresthe owning of key business development processes, bidding strategy, managing resource allocation, and will have line management responsibilities for bid managers and bid coordinator.Salary Range£53,000 - £60,000 Non-London £60,000 - £67,000 LondonEssential Job Duties Resourcing and planning Work closely with the Director of Bidding Services and Head of Writing to analyse and plan resourcing from the pipeline from within own team and from the wider business Determine appropriate resource based on the Bid / No Bid decisions; allocation of key personnel; tracking and reviewing team resourcing; and escalating prioritisation issues Maintaining a centralised calendar of key milestones for all bids in order to plan and track resourcing and decision-making Keep business stakeholders up to date with pipeline demands Work closely with the Business Development sales team to ensure comprehensive capture plans are in place for bid readiness and assist in planning and driving key pre-bid activities Work closely with the Sales Lead in developing early solution requirements, win themes and USPs.People and Performance Management Day to day line management of bid management and coordination team within the Health function Objective settings, reviews and performance management of team Personal development planning, succession and resilience planning Editorial oversight, working with the Head of Bid Writing to develop a writing approach to health bids, managing resources and quality assurance Develop relationships with external providers when necessary, managing the consulting agreement process and performance of external resource into bids Provide coaching support to Bid Managers and other bid team members Lead by example in demonstrating Maximus culture and values.Key Bid Responsibilities Take the lead on specific business development opportunities within Health Timely completion of Bid / No Bid assessments for new opportunities Ensure responses to tenders are compelling and high scoring to win or retain business, taking ownership of the highest value / most important responses Working with a range of stakeholders including the Solutions Architects, Implementation Managers, Pricing Analyst and Operations teams to ensure that all components of the proposal are completed to a high quality and on time Drafting appropriate governance packs with clear recommendations for approval Supporting the preparation of presentations to clients, other supporting documentation and information required for new business. Work closely with the Director of Bidding Services, Business Development Directors, and Heads of Services to develop, identify and share expertise across the company in order to embed best practice, and apply lessons from wider MAXIMUS Proposal Operations Ensure best practice is followed within the Bid Management team, developing and refining bid management processes.Education and Experience Requirements Essential & Desirable A high-quality degree, educated to degree level or equivalent qualifications or work experience or equivalent experience A relevant project management qualification or equivalent experience Significant business development experience in a procurement environment Experience of commercial modelling and pricing in a B2B service environment Experience of managing a bid team Experience of producing tender documents, pitches and proposals Experience of communicating with internal and external clients and leading through a governance process.Individual competencies Highly structured and organised Excellent line management skills, encompassing both robust performance management and developmental coaching Able to manage their own and others workflows and multiple priorities Outstanding written English and experience of writing, reviewing and editing winning bids Strong commercial skillset including both financial analysis and contractual review Literacy in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio Confidence to present to senior stakeholders and colleagues.Behaviours: Thinks strategically, self -aware and appreciative of team dynamics and characters Proactively seeks improvements in team working to increase efficiency and quality of output Facilitates open discussion about ways of working and opportunities to improve Balances the views of stakeholders to make clear recommendations and informed decision Escalates risks and issues to Director of Bidding Services or Business Development leads as appropriate.EEO Statement MAXIMUS is committed to developing, maintaining and supporting a culture of equality and diversity in employment in which our employees as well as candidates for employment are treated equitably.
