London South East Colleges is also has a University Centre that offers a range of affordable employment-focused higher education courses that blend academic and vocational learning. Our courses are validated by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) such as the University of Greenwich and Canterbury Christ Church University and we were recognised as delivering high quality teaching and learning and outcomes for students with a Silver Award in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). You would be joining the Faculty of HE Health and Education which offers opportunities for students to develop their professional knowledge, skills and understanding in their chosen of area of study. Since 2014 we have been delivering a Foundation Degree in Social Care Studies in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University. This programme was developed specifically to widen participation into Social Work as a career allowing applicants to join an alternative progression route to a traditional social work degree. This foundation degree has a corresponding pathway of the BA (Hons) Social Work Studies that is a 1 year programme at level 6 that is recognised by Social Work England as a route leading towards registration as a social worker. Students that successfully complete all 3 years can apply for professional registration upon graduation. The programme has developed a strong reputation for high quality training and has continued to grow in popularity. The post holder will be occupationally competent in the social care industry and a registered social worker. You will have a good understanding of the interface between social care and social work, how service users are engaged and theory underpinning practice in the field. The post holder will deliver modules related to these fields of expertise as well as be involved in practice placements. The candidate should also have knowledge of issues relating to equal opportunities, cultural diversity, knowledge of commitment to Safeguarding Children and vulnerable adult legislation and relevant teaching qualifications. As we support a number of children and vulnerable adults, all staff are exempt from Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Accordingly, most staff will be subject to either a Standard or Enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) check. *Please apply as soon as possible as applications will be considered upon receipt; we reserve the right to interview before the closing date*.
