Job Description

About usAvencia Consulting are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading specialty reinsurer based in the City who are looking for Group Reporting Manager to join on a permanent basis.The roleSeeking Group Reporting Manager to join growing Finance team in mid-size Specialty (Re)InsurerKey accountabilities

  • Oversee and review the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts, KPIs and financial supplements for the Group of Companies
  • Prepare the monthly consolidation, liaising with other finance teams and IT support as required
  • Oversee and review the preparation of the monthly accounting entries to record the financial results of the Groups MGAs, including consolidation adjustments and reports on consolidated results
  • Oversee and review the preparation of the Group US GAAP financial statements
  • Prepare and monitor the monthly reporting timetable to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Responsible for the preparation and posting of certain transactions including share based payments, as well as discussing new transactions with relevant accounting teams.
  • Ownership of historical financial numbers, providing input & support to other teams where necessary
  • Oversee and review the preparation of benchmarking financial performance against peer group
  • Co-ordinate the preparation of rating agency capital returns and provide quarterly monitoring of capital position
  • Prepare accounting memos and oversee implementation of new accounting standards under US GAAP
  • Liaise with internal and external audit providing information as requested, responding to queries, ensuring operation of financial reporting controls, and effectively supporting the overall audit processes
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and procedures documentation
  • Responsible for coaching and developing junior accountants and reviewing work performed during the month and quarter end close process
  • Keep the Financial Controller fully informed of the status of the projects assigned, as well as relevant accounting-related issues that may arise from such projects
  • Ad hoc projects as required
Skills & experience
  • A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3 years post qualification with experience preferably gained in an insurance/reinsurance environment
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of US GAAP for insurance accounting
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting software (previous experience with Oracle and Hyperion Financial Management preferred but not required)
  • Experience of WDesk preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of applications
  • Advanced and proven financial, analytical and organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of the finance team and other key stakeholders across different functions within the organisation
  • Ability and willingness to work extended working hours and weekends as needed
