Job Description

Group Property Accountant - London - Permanent - £45k to £50k + benefitsAlexander Daniels are working in partnership with a market leading business in the heart of London who are looking to recruit an experienced Group Property Accountant. The primary purpose of Group Property Accountants role is to work with the Group FinancialAccountant and the others in the Group Financial Accounting Team to ensure that the required quality of service is provided to the business from the Financial Accounting function.The Group Property Accountants key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • To be the Financial Accounting owner of all properties-related costs, both P&L and balance sheet aspects.
  • To be the natural go-to person for those in the business needing to understand property costs.
  • To ensure that all processes and tasks in this area of responsibility are developed in line with the evolving needs of the business.
  • The accounting of all property-related costs and equipment & maintenance costs for all properties globally
  • Working within the team on all related Finance month end tasks including prepayments and accruals, to month end timetable
  • Completion of balance sheet reconciliations; involvement in monthly Balance Sheet Review process
  • The provision of cost analysis to business managers; integrating with business operations and functions
  • Working with the FP&A Team on annual budgets and forecasts
  • Updating/maintaining the CoStar System with leases data and accounting for leases in line with IFRS 16
The successful Group Property Accountant will have the following knowledge, experience, competencies and qualifications:
  • Recently Qualified/ Part Qualified ACCA, CIMA
  • At least 2 years experience in a similar role
  • A hands-on working knowledge of general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of Accounting Standards
  • Has an understanding of IFRS 16 (Leases) in particular
  • Experience of working in a large international business or group
  • Comfortable working in a complex multi-currency business environment
  • Computer literate with strong systems experience/capability; experience of Oracle Cloud advantageous
  • An excel model developer; has developed MS Excel skills to at least Intermediate Level.
  • A confident performer in this area with progressive outlook; able to communicate effectively at all levels
  • An individual with the technical skills and personal approach to carry the respect of colleagues and senior management
  • Capable of planning, organising and prioritising workload to tight deadlines
  • A questioning approach able to take the initiative, challenge the status quo and identify improvements
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly growing change/development-oriented environment.
