Job Description

A growing SME International Design Consultancy business with is seeking a talented, ambitious Group Accountant in a newly created role to start ASAP. The job holder will work closely with the Group Finance Director and external service providers as part of a first-class finance function. This role is predominantly home based, however there will be the need to travel for face-to-face meetings when needed.Main purpose / scope of the role

  • Updating and maintaining the Xero financial books and records of Group companies based in the UK & APAC region.
  • Assist the Group Finance Director in providing monthly financial reporting and insight for the global leadership and studios and also the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Credit control and accounts payable duties - collection of outstanding debtors and payment of creditors.
  • Dealing with multitude of stakeholders within the Group as well as customers, external payroll providers, auditors and advisors.
    • Key Responsibilities and Specifications
  • Responsible for maintaining the accounting records in Xero on a timely and accurate basis for each Group company in accordance with local GAAP.
  • Prepare the monthly Group allocation journals for shared cost attributions across the Group.
  • Deliver monthly studio reports with analysis through review of performance and investigation into variances.
  • Work with the billing administrators and studio heads to ensure that monthly invoices are sent out in a timely basis.
  • Proactively send reminders and chasers for overdue debt and prepare weekly debtor position for review and escalation.
  • Work with external payroll providers and ensure payroll costs are correctly recorded in each company at studio level.
  • Maintain weekly cashflow position and forecast for each company.
  • Prepare the list of payments due in each entity weekly for authorisation and release.
  • Working with the FD, prepare annual Statutory financial statements and work with external tax advisors and auditors (Hong Kong only) to ensure information and explanations are provided for their purposes.
  • Prepare the VAT return for the UK entity ready for review and submission each quarter.
  • Ensure that that bank and cash reconciliations are updated in Xero and prepare quarterly reconciliations for key balance sheets accounts (Australian sickness/holiday provisions, corporation tax provisions

  • Must be qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) - will consider someone from a Practice firm seeking their first Industry role
  • A good mix of reporting, controls and statutory knowledge
  • Xero system experience would be advantageous
  • Excellent attention to detail and highly organised
