Concrete is the second most used material on the planet, behind water and makes up roughly 10% of global CO2 emissions. By recuing waste this start up is able reduce the construction industries carbon footprint, reduce waste to landfill and prevent financial loss to industry. Having been named CEMEX Ventures, Boston Consulting and Tracxn as one of the best Contech start-ups of 2019 and receiving funding from a leading global start-up generator theyre on a mission for growth.Job descriptionIn this Graduate Engineering job, you will be reporting directly to the Head of Engineering (Ex Senior Manager for the Sensors, Actuators and Displays team at Dyson), providing hands-on support with the design of hardware, performing mechanical design work, and deploying the system in the field. This isnt a typical Graduate Mechanical engineering role as you know it; its a fantastic opportunity to develop your knowledge in a holistic mechanical engineering role providing combined exposure to engineer responsibilities and general responsible found within an early stage start up. There is exceptional potential for career growth within a rapidly scaling global company.Key responsibilitiesIn this Graduate Mechanical Engineer opportunity in London, your responsibilities will include:

  • Design the enclosure and mounting for the new v3 hardware
  • Determine the mounting locations and cable routing on the ready-mix trucks
  • Draw wiring diagrams, select connectors, and arrange procurement of wiring harnesses
  • Write work instructions for technicians to follow while installing our systems
  • Audit customers ready-mix trucks and analyse the results
  • Work on research projects and support the senior staff with non-engineering projects
  • Manage the procurement and organisation of components Identifying opportunities to improve performance with quantifiable measures
  • As well as a whole host of other business critical functions found within a start up
  • Job requirements
  • A Mechanical Engineering graduate from a top university
  • Ideally a MSc, or previous industry experience
  • Superb numerical and analytical skills
  • 3D mechanical CAD design experience including the preparation of toleranced engineering drawings
  • Practical mechanical engineering skills for building prototypes
  • Willingness to get hands dirty working with the ready-mix trucks
  • UK driving licence for site visits
  • A confident communicator who is able to liaise with clients and sub-contractors directly
  • A keen interest in reduction of CO2 and acknowledgement of the environmental impact of the construction sector
  • Its a added bonus if you have;
  • Knowledge of Python (or similar) for data analysis and visualisation
  • Experience working on road vehicles professionally or as a hobby
  • Training on machine shop tools e.g. lathe, mill
