Graduate / Junior Data Centre Technicians required to join leading ecommerce organisation.Working within the Decommissioning Technical team which is responsible for processing and facilitating large scale legacy Data Centre equipment through a liquidation process to ensure that targeted equipment is ready to be removed off premises. Team memberswill also process large volumes of customer data to ensure that all customer data is sanitized and properly managed.This Entry Level position requires candidate to be a self-starter, highly motivated individual who can adhere to strict processes. They must be able to perform repetitive tasks safely with no deviation demonstrate continuously consistent results. Technicianswill be working in a team environment not only with other members of the Decommissioning team but also with other teams and must be able to communicate and promote cross-team functionality.Data Centre Technicians (Decommission Technician) core responsibilities:Rack Level DecommissionsServer Level DecommissionsPlanning and executing Media Shredding EventsRack Moves and MigrationsMedia auditsDecommissioning and processing of legacy hardware out of the data center facilitiesMoving/lifting packages usually no greater than 34 kg.Unpacking/repacking fragile electronicsRelocating and moving of large enterprise equipmentCreating/attaching labels and barcodesHard drive installation and removal, and destructionBasic Networking removal/installation and clearing of configurations.Physical layer and Application layerUpdating progress through a web ticketing systemReporting of processes and regular status updatesDocumenting proceduresEscalating to senior technicians and management as needed/requiredFamiliarity with basic PC components/hardware:HDD/SSD/Flash/Removable storage mediaUSB/FireWire/ESataRam/CPU/Motherboard/Input-Output devicesCandidates must have a solid understanding of Safety both in terms of working safely and taking proactive steps to mitigate risks.There may be an element of shift based work required with this role and candidates must be able to travel to various locations.
