Job Description

GP IT Facilitator The GP IT Facilitator will be responsible delivering an effective GP IT service supporting managers, staff, and primary care & GPs across the region ensuring services meet operational needs.The post holder may be required to work at any establishment at any time throughout the duration of their contract, normally within the location of the CSU, or as set out under the terms of their contract. Travel will be required between sites.Location: East London + Working from homeTemporary: Expected to last 3 months with possible extensionHours per week: 37.5 hours per weekSalary: £26 per hour (Umbrella) or £22.85 per hour (PAYE inclusive of holiday pay)Skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of a range of IM&T areas acquired
  • through qualification to degree or equivalent level or relevant experience
  • Relevant training certification / accreditation
  • PRINCE II project Management Methodology (Foundation)
  • Relevant experience working with an IT Service Delivery environment
  • Experience of working in an NHS GP IT environment
  • Experience of Primary Care environment
  • Proven skills and experience in successfully delivering training sessions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate to colleagues, customers and suppliers at all levels
  • Ability to promote a professional image for ICT at all times
  • Expert knowledge of Primary Care
  • Clinical System especially: EMIS Web, SystmOne
  • Advanced computer skills incorporating MS Project, Word, Excel, Access and Email
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and issues to non-technical staff and managers
The post holder will undertake the following duties and responsibilities
  • To develop and facilitate processes to improve use of information systems and workflows in general practice and to organise and report on performance information in primary care.
  • Provide mentor support to the GP IT training team.
  • Facilitate the effective management, of specific ICT projects as part of a project team in primary care.
  • Facilitate the development of best practices and procedures for new ways of working and application enhancements.
  • Design, test and continuously develop IT and Clinical Systems training programmes.
  • In the role of expect trainer, deliver IT training, on-site on a one to one and group basis covering all areas of the primary care clinical systems (including EMIS Web and SystmOne), tailoring training to suit the needs of the practices / individuals.
  • Supports GP practices and primary care organisations in the use of national incentives such as e-Referral Service and EPS.
  • Able to create reports and interpret and present data.
  • Analyses, investigates and resolves complex IM&T queries. This includes the management of second line service desk support calls.
  • Self-manage local and national GP IT related projects and deployments, including management of the National Tracking Data Base.
  • Support and aid GP practices to get the best out of their clinical system, offering advice and recommendations where required. This includes data quality through systems optimisation.
  • Monitor system changes and enhancements, communicating to colleagues and end users where necessary.
  • Requirement to attend local and national events representing the organisation.
  • Provision of IM&T advice to service leads with the aim of developing a culture of continuous improvement in IM&T services and use of information across the healthcare community.
  • Follows departmental guidelines and implements IM&T policies
  • Follows all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in their work and take responsibility for maintaining their personal training in the use of SOPs as part of their annual training and development plan.
