Job Description

Location: London Grade: 13 ( for internal purposes only ) The Role: This role is responsible for the Generating Fuels and Electricity Pricing team globally. Based in London, the global head plays an essential role in driving forward our global generating fuels and electricity coverage including the developmentof new indices and assessments, strengthening existing benchmarks and other pricing coverage, as well as driving excellence in news coverage in collaboration with the global news team, and deep customer engagement for natural gas, coal, uranium, and electricitymarkets around the world. The global head manages a team of people based in India, UK and US. This pivotal role sits within the Established Benchmarks leadership team and responsibilities include the important Platts North American natural gas benchmark indices.The global head provides overall strategy for the group as well as decision-making around key benchmarks. They also engage comprehensively internally and externally with key stakeholders, including through methodology development and other discussions. The Impact: This is a key role for S&P Global Commodity Insights as it is focused on defending and strengthening Platts reputation in respect of existing generating fuels and electricity benchmarks as well as expanding its profile and footprint withinthe sectors both regionally and globally. The Career Opportunity: This is an integral role in a challenging environment, with the global head expected to work well in collaboration with other senior leaders, as well as exhibiting strong individual leadership in delivering essential pricing andmarket coverage. The global head reports to the Head of Established Benchmarks. The Team / The Business: You will work with a high profile and highly motivated global leadership team, producing pricing and benchmarks for the worlds commodities markets. You will manage reporters spanning the globe, with the team analyzing marketactivity and data and reporting on the factors impacting the markets. The team is highly collaborative and engages with the market through various mediums, including commentaries, stories, podcasts, blogs, and videos. It is vital the team works successfullyacross other content sectors such as Energy Transition, as well as with other business units including Product, Marketing and Sales. Responsibilities:The candidate will embrace the challenge of supporting and further developing an established commodities sector business and will, among other duties:

  • Direct the global Generating Fuels and Electricity pricing team, develop staff and talent.
  • Build out and execute the pricing content strategy for generating fuels and electricity.
  • Drive operational excellence, ensuring pricing and commentary is accurate and aligned with Platts methodologies and encourage further development of best practices.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders on methodology issues and to ensure awareness and understanding of Platts generating fuels and electricity indices and assessments.
  • Grow a constructive two-way relationship with the Energy Transition team, maximising collaborative coverage and shared learning.
  • Develop talent base and leaders for succession.
  • Drive collaboration and effective implementation of innovation projects.
What Were Looking For: Strong experience in commodity benchmarks and publishing, excellent understanding of Platts methodology. Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to represent the business at the highest levels with the industry and otherrelevant stakeholders, in meetings as well as public presentations. Excellent managerial and leadership skills. Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Bachelors degree or similar level university degree.
  • Deep knowledge of global commodity markets - physical, exchange-traded and over-the-counter.
  • At least seven years of experience in market coverage and commodity benchmark provision.
  • Ability to motivate teams, achieve goals, develop and set strategy and translate ideas into targets and clear action plans
  • Excellent English writing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Self-driven, energetic and proactive.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, team-oriented, global, multi-cultural environment.
