Role Responsible for developing the strategic funding plan for Northern Trust including all aspects of deferred compensation plans. Develops and implements new and revised compensation programs, policies, and procedures to align with the companys strategic goalsand competitive practice The key Responsibilities of the Role include: - Responsible for aligning the incentive accruals and annual funding with relative performance - Responsible for compensation funding materials for senior management and for the BoD Human Capital Compensation Committee - Responsible for ensuring company compensation short-term and long-term programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations. - Directs the management and professional staff in the planning, design, financial management, communication, and administration of compensation plans - Carries out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines in order to support the execution of strategic direction of business function activities - Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity - Develops the business unit strategic plan and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the unit. Follows through to ensure that objectives are met - Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication. Skills/Qualifications The successful candidate will benefit from having: - Technical expert with in-depth knowledge in area of Compensation and strong knowledge of other HR areas - Strong leadership and team management capabilities - Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data - Excellent written, presentation and communication skills; experience conducting presentations to peers and/or senior management - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with senior management, clients, HR management and staff - Demonstrated ability to consult and interface with all levels of management and apply influencing skills - Critical attention to detail - demonstrated ability to consistently deliver at a high level of accuracy - Highly proficient in Microsoft products, including Excel - Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities Experience - BS/BA in relevant field is preferred. 10 or more years of experience in HR and related compensation experience is preferred.
