- The Girlswear Designer (Toddler and Older Girls) will research and design trend-driven products into a price point that are creative, commercial and age appropriate- Seasonal catwalk analysis, fabric, trend research and directionClient DetailsA highly successful value retailer, having a record sales year - despite the challenging climate!Childrenswear is the fastest growing area for the business.Description- The successful Girlswear Designer will need to work to tight deadlines, manage priorities efficiently and adapt and overcome issues confidently- Liaise with factories to develop and sample ranges, working closely with our in-country product development team- Presenting ranges to buying and wider design teams- Ability to create own graphics and prints.- Licence design experience is a nice to have!Profile- The successful Girlswear Designer will ideally come from a supplier background/value retailer- Solid girlswear experience - over 4/5 years.- Experience operating at established girlswear designer level, in a fast paced environment.- Ability to create own graphics and prints.- Experience designing license product is a nice to have!- Experience managing a junior team.- Portfolio should demonstrate strong commercial awareness and understanding of childrenswear trends- Sound knowledge of fabric, print and application techniques for design execution- Candidate must be a proactive self-starter able to work on own initiative with excellent presentation and communication skills- Experience of CAD software is essential- Range planning and critical path management- Commercial eye with strong attention to detailJob Offer- Attractive salary- Opportunities for progression within the company.
