Leprosy affects millions of people, many of whom face significant prejudice and discrimination. Over 3 million people across the world live with undiagnosed leprosy, even though early treatment can prevent permanent disability.Since Lepra was formed almost100 years ago, we have reached millions of people through health treatment, education and awareness raising of leprosy and other neglected diseases. We were the first to trial drug treatments for leprosy, and, by seeking out those who would not otherwise bediagnosed, we are able to prevent long-term disability in those suffering with the condition.Today Lepra works in India, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, providing treatment, support, training and strengthening health systems. We are an evidence-led and secular organisation, working to deliver real change to peoples lives and to give them a voice. Our teams have pioneered many successful programmes and capacity building systems, leading to systemic change.Lepra is an innovative charity, led by evidence, and our activities havea real impact on beating leprosy and supporting some of the most marginalised people in the world. We have a highly committed and skilled board and as a new Trustee you will be supporting Lepra to increase our impact, thereby improving the lives of people affectedby leprosy. We are seeking two new board members who will bring an understanding of good governance and most importantly will be engaged by Lepras vision, mission and values. These individuals will further strengthen our board: An experienced qualified accountantto provide further financial support to the board.
